Does anyone out there know if there is a difference between the target brand and enfamil formulas??

Well, I went ahead and tried the Target formula for a solid week -- and unfortunetly I had to stop using it because it made my daughter consipated.

I believe there is definitely a difference. The larger formula companies actually have documented studies that show how there formula performs. The target brand probably doesn't. I know that similac is even better becuz their fat blend is different then enfamil and the fat blend is very important. My doctor recommends similac so that's what we use. Hope it helps.
It's basically the exact same stuff. It's manufactured by the same company that makes the store brand for Wal-mart, so you can look up all the nutritional info here:

The FDA states that generics have to be the same as name brand. I started using Target brand as soon as my free enfamil ran out. I didn't bother to mix them or anything else to get her used to it and she did great. Couldn't even tell the difference. The one thing I loved as well was th Target brand doesn't foam up and much, it was great...
The price is pretty much the only difference. They are all required & regulated by law to have the proper nutrients. My sil switched her son when he was about 6 months old, but she had to do it gradually. Her dr. advised her on how to do it.
I used target and walmart brands. Walmart brand was usually cheaper, but not always!

With my first baby we used Enfamil. That was in 2005 and since then Enfamil has gone up quite a bit in price. Our second son came in 2007 and I immediately began using the TArget brand Enfamil. The only difference I noticed was that the Target brand did not seem as oily or leave an oily residue on the bottles. He was able to handle it and even our doctor said it was fine to use it. All formula manufacturers need to meet certain requirements. My neighbor is a prenatal nurse and when I asked her she said that the reason it can be sold for such a lower price is that the big name companies do more research than off brand companies but they all need to meet the same requirements. So, with name brand formulas the price also funds the research I suppose. I am all for generic at a lower cost! My youngest is now 15 months and is doing wonderfully. I have him on whole and 2% milk now.

Lucky you! You heard about Target's formula before your baby was outgrowing the formula stage. I kick myself for not finding out about this sooner!
Anyway, my daughter had Reflux and so her tummy was very sensitive to a lot of things but she handled the Target formula just fine and Mommy LOVED the price difference. Go forth and try! :)

Hi. i haven't got any advice for you i'm afraid, but i am very glad you asked the question! i have been toying with the idea with switching from similac to target own brand for a little while now and it has been my "mommy guilt' that has stopped me. I really believe that the own brand stuff is just as good and that as a parent we can be made to feel that the more expensive stuff is better and that buying the cheaper stuff is doing an injustice to our children. My other concern is that my son seems quite happy on similac and i am worried in changing i will undo some of the good work i have done. I am going to give the own brand stuff a try though because like you said the difference in price is huge and i suppose if it doesn't work then i will just have to switch back. Thank you for asking this question and i hope the target brand works out for you.
I just had a baby 3 weeks ago and when I took her to doctor for her 1st visit the doctor asked what formula I was feeding her. I said the Walmart brand that was similar to Similac. She told me that it was fine, that it was the same thing, just cheaper. So, I am sure that it goes for the Target brand too.

read all the ingredients and they are exactly the same. no difference that i can find except there is a consistensy difference and i don't like it. call me crazy, but enfamil just flows together quite a bit easier and why?
K., I switched from Enfamil Iron to the Target brand and my little girl had no problems at all with the switch. I think they're the same!
