My daughter had her tonsils and adnoids out because she was always sick and she is doing 100% better. It was a ruff week after she had it done but she rarly gets colds anymore. I reccomend it.
My daughter will be going in to get her adnoids taken out. I would like to hear from others the positive/negatives of them being taken out. The ENT specialist say's this should help her constant plugged up nose and her sleeping. Thank you.
Thank you everyone for your response. Even though i don't like her going under, I'm looking forward to her having this done. I hope this will help her. Again, Thanks!

Three out of my four children had their adenoid removed. Each one had a very easy recovery and positive results. We have a lot of sinus problems in our family and the kids always had colds and stuffed up noses. The procedures helped each one of them and we have had very few illnesses since! They also seem less tired because their quality of sleep is better. I would DEFINITELY recommend the procedure. Good luck!
I had my son's adnoids removed and tubes put in his ears at the same time, he had the same problem as your daughter, the constant plugged up nose, he also had a nagging cough that just never went away. We went in in May of this year and he had less than a day of downtime (he was supposed to have more, but try getting a 3 year old to rest for 2 days!)Now if he does have a stuffy nose it actually drains and the cough is almost completely gone. They told me the surgery would be about 1/2 and hour to 40 minutes and he was out in 20. Overall it was as good an experience as you can have when your child goes in for surgery. It has helped tremendously and he has only gotten one cold so far this winter! It really was worth it. Feel free to email me if you have any questions or just want to talk about it! Good luck!
I agree with what others have written. Our son had his adenoids out right after his fourth birthday, and the surgery worked wonders on his contant goopy nose and frequent infections. He felt lousy for about a week after the surgery, but improved steadily after that. It might make you feel better to know that the procedure took about nine minutes: very fast, very routine, and very effective. Good luck!
Hi. Our son (now age 10) had his adenoids and tonsils removed at age 2.5. He had serious ear & throat infections, snored terribly & had sleep apnea. The surgery cleared all the issues up 100%. He recovered quickly and without any complications. I was nervous and of course worried about what "could" happen, but it was what he needed. It made a huge difference and took away a lot of the pain he was constantly feeling. Best of luck to you & your little one! She will be fine. I think it is harder on the parent than the child, really!
My daughter had her adnoids taken out about a year ago. Everything went well and it didnt seem to bother her, she used to snore like a grown man(never heard anything like it in my life!!) Now she breathes alot easier and seems happier. I had mine out when I was a kid (like 4) and they grew back (that can happen when you get older I am 28 now) I just had to have mine out again in July this year, After the surgery I did not have any pain at all and I noticed a big difference in breathing etc!! Good luck with your daughter and hope this helps her get better!!
My son had his adnoids & tonsils out this past summer when he was just 2 1/2. He had terrible sleep apnea, snored & was a heavy breather. All of those symptoms are gone after his surgery. He still wakes in the night but I believe it is because of habit. The surgery went really well & he recovered in no time. It was a scary for me having my little boy in surgery but I think it was well worth it. Good luck.
My daughter was in 1st grade when she had her tonsils and adnoids out. She snored too! It was crazy. She had sleep apnea also. After the surgury, her little voice sounded like Minnie Mouse! It returned to normal in about a week. The snoring was gone, and she slept much better. You will be happy you did it. We had it done at Fairview Southdale.
My son had his out at age 4 after constant sinus infections. After they were out he went from non-stop infections to one or two a year. He also gained weight, which he needed, because the adenoids were making him gag on his food. They grew back a few years later and we had to repeat the surgery but this only happens in 10% of patients. If we had to do it all over we wouldn't change a thing. Good luck!
