Hi! Just joined Mamasource and so far it's really great. :) My question is boring, but I was wondering if anyone knew someone that can make t-shirt quilts. The husband has about 200 shirts, won't part with them, so I would love a quilt made. I cannot sew, and I'd like to not pay several hundred dollars to have someone make us one. I saw one price for $300 to make a quilt for twin size, and I had to supply the fabric and shirts.

Thanks everyone for your replies. :) I'd start up a quilting group, but I can't sew anything harder than buttons, and that's hard enough.

I have been on mamasource for a while, but rarely read the posts - glad I read this one. I love your idea! I have so little free time, but making a t-shirt quilt sounds like fun. We're deadheads too and also have a zillion old tour shirts.

Well, I can tell you this- quilts are going to be expensive. There is alot of hard work going into making one. I myself used to make Medieval and Ren costumes as well as theatre costumes, but have never mastered the art of sewing t-shirt fabric. If you found someone who is only charging you $300 for a quilt, take the offer and run! But watch the person closely so that you know that they are not making several other quilts as well and selling them. And watch the quality of the work. You might ask that they teach you how to sew, or let you sit in while they are working on you quilt so you can learn. To make one yourself usually takes a special sewing machine called a serger. Those are expensive- I know, I have one and I guard it with my life.
On another note, what games are you into? are you a video gamer, or a role player? And what is up with the mutant gold fish? :)
