I do know that bad news come quick. And do not worry until there is a reason to worry. trust me on that one.
Hi
I found a small lump on my neck and went to an ENT yesterday. He decided to do a biopsy on the swollen lymph node I have no symptoms and am healthy. The results will not be back for 2 weeks. Im a bit nervous....has anyone ever had swollen lymph nodes and a biopsy?
Well...results cam back that they couldn't rule out lymphoma so now I need to have it removed. I went to a second doctor that said I should remove it but now I have another appoint on July 20th . I ma hoping they can do a scan or something else.
Please pray for me because I am very scared!! I have faith that everything will be ok but I still feel this way. I need some words of encouragement. Thanks

HI!
Yes! I once had them on my neck. It was due to colds. After 1-2 weeks, they were gone :-) ....don't scare yourself!
I actually just went through this myself. Did the ENT even try giving you antibiotics? I was also so scared, but my ENT tried antibiotics first, and the swelling went away. I did have a bug bite on my scalp, and he said sometimes that can cause a swollen node.
I was really freaked by the whole thing and did a bunch of research. It is the rare case that a swollen node is something serious. It is more common than we realize for the nodes to swell. Also, when they swell, it can take 1-4 months for them to go back to normal. I even read of some cases where they never went back to normal, were biopsied, and found to be nothing. Also the size of the node says a lot. You describe it as small, maybe the size of a large pea? From everything I read, a small node is rarely an indication of anything serious, and usually from an infection. If you have dandruff, itchy scalp or have gotten a bug bite on your scalp, any of these things can cause a neck node to swell.
I'm sorry you're so scared about it. I was too. I hope it turns out to be nothing.
Take care,
B.
Do you have regular dental checkups? It's common for lymph nodes in the neck to swell when there is tooth decay, or nerve root infection, or a root canal gone bad. If you haven't been to the dentist lately, this would be a good time to check it out. Your teeth can make your whole body sick if you let them go. Good luck!
When I was 16 my whole neck swelled up and it turned out to be a full blown case of the mumps. It was pretty painful. I swelled up so bad the skin was tight for about 3 days. It hurt to move my jaw, so sipping water or soup was all I could eat, but I didn't feel like eating anyway. One swollen lymph node - it doesn't hurt to check, but it'll probably go down on it's own by the time your test results come back. It the ENT was really worried he would have a test sent to a lab with a faster turn around time.
Yes i have them my doctor said when you get sick one will swell but after about a month it will go back down and sometimes one will be bigger than the other but thats normal. you should be fine i hope.
More often than not, the lymph nodes swell due to infection or viruses. Often, we don't find out exactly why. I have heard most doctors say that if it's an area of concern that appears suddenly or does not resolve within 2 weeks, it should be biopsied just to be safe. Hopefully it will be a benign(negative, non cancerous) and things will be fine!
Is it recently swollen, how long have you noticed it? Does it hurt? I've had a lump in my neck since I was a little girl, and it's never changed. My dad had the same thing and he had his removed, it turned out to be a fatty cyst. Hope yours is the same.
yes i have one. i found it about 3 years ago. I happen to be very thin and the dr that they sent me to said sometimes you can just have them for no reason and people especially like me are able to really notice them. i am healthy and have no issues with it.
Yes, I went through this and it scared the heck out of me. Turned out I had an infected and absessed tooth and the infection settled in my nodes.
A trip to the dentist and a couple courses of antibiotics took care of it.
It's always better to be safe than sorry, but I have a feeling you will be all right.
Take care!
My sister had hers biopsied on her neck when she was teenager, it turned out as nothing. But a few years later she was diagnosed with Crohn's disease (an immunodeficiency) and I wonder if that was when it started showing up. It could be absolutely nothing, have you been sick lately? Sometimes the body reacts differently to certain illnesses and takes awhile to recover.
I have had 4 biopsies on swollen lymph nodes. Every time they were negative.
Also, the more you rub it, the more agitated it will get. I speak from experience. :)
I won't tell you not to worry because that advice didn't help me at all. Just try to keep busy to help pass the time. My husband works at an oncology center(acupuncturist) and the drs there always said the probability that it is something to be worried about is low.
Good luck.

They get swollen every time you're sick, but they should go back down when you aren't. I haven't had a biopsy since they didn't stay swelled. Good luck!
