Swollen Lymph Nodes in Neck No Infection and Painful Plz Help!

I went to the doctor about a month ago because I discovered a small bb sized lump in my neck. It was very sore and painful so I went to the doctor. They did a blood test to test for mono and a cbc and stuff. It turns out that I had mono in the past but its not recent or active. While I was at the doctor I complained of weight loss and extreme fatigue. They ran more tests to look for pregnancy strep, auto immune disorders, as well as several tests to look for any and all inflamation in my body. All tests came back fine and I'm not pregnant. In fact I'm the picture of perfect health except for the lump and weight loss and fatigue. They gave me a b12 shot and told me to come back in a week and ordered an ultra sound for the lump in my neck. Today I went in for the ultasound and the tech found four more. They were all very tender but he says they were small and superficial. He too thought that they had no reason to be there due to my lack of infection. Does anyone have any insight? I'm a little bit nervous. Thanks! Also the lump has not grown at all and no fevers.

What can I do next?

I recently has a swollen lymph node just below my ear. I went to the doctor and they advised to take aspirin or any other inflammation reducer. I took aspirin for about 2 - 3 weeks and it's gone. I also had no infection and they had no idea why it happened, it just did. All is fine now. don't worry

Hi Trish,

Your body is fighting SOMETHING off. That is an absolute truth. It may be something as simple as the common cold or something more serious. The best thing to do since the doctors have not found anything is to try to boost your immune system so your body can fight it off successfully. A good absorbable multivitamin is a good place to start. Principled upper cervical care is another way to fend off problems. You can go further to build your immune system by detoxing your home and body. If any of this is something you want to try, PM me and I can point you in the right direction to start.

Don't panic. It's probably nothing to speak of. The swollen nodes means your body IS fighting it. If they go back to normal after you've tried a few things you're probably in the clear :)

Regards,

M.

Hi,

I agree with Mimi. You are fighting something. I had a very small lump in my neck years ago. The doctor did the same thing and found nothing. It took about a week and it went away. He did say there could be some kind of infection above the lump (such as on my scalp. Since it went way he did not put me on anything.

I wish you luck and will keep you in my prayers!

My daughter(16) has had swollen lymph nodes for the past two years..She has had blood work, and a sonagram, but nothing shows...Off and on they hurt her, but no other symptoms. The doctors don't know what it is...I'm wondering if it is allergies. That is one thing that your lymph nodes do, filter allergens.
It is strange, but she has lived with it for two years...
I guess the reason for my post is to let you know you aren't alone.
One thing you might have them check is your spleen. that is next on my daughter's list.
My daughter doesn't have the fatigue, but she has lost some weight.
Good luck with that!

I don't know what could be causing your problem but I have had my lymph nodes swell with no obvious reason too. The ones in my neck always swell slightly when I am run down, overtired or fighting off a minor illness like a cold--but not like small painful lump(s) like you describe. I also had the node behind one ear swell up and stay that way for a long time (like over 2 years). The doctor looked at it but never found a reason. It wasn't really sore, just tender if pressed on.

Ask your doctor to consider your thyroid. and to needle biopsy the lump. Best wishes for wellness.

I have no idea what others have suggested but I work in the Pathology Department of a hospital and we do FNA (fine needle aspirations) on lumps in the neck all the time.. these do sound small so a Ultrasound guided biopsy sounds right.. no where in your question or answers did anybody suggest it was your thyroid??? I read your problem to my co-worker and that's exactly what she thought of too.. I hope they figure it out for you soon!! Good luck!

Do you still have your wisdom teeth by any chance?
My neck swelled up and was so sore I couldn't touch the skin or sleep on either side.
I felt sick.
I had no infection.
It was impacted wisdom teeth.

Anyway, just an idea since other things have been ruled out.

Best wishes.
