Mamas & Papas-

My kid has been saying something which sounds to me like "super power rangers", or it might be "super pirate raiders," or it mgiht be something else altogether. Is this something from a tv show or a movie? I am so out of touch. He's nearly four, just to give you an idea of who his cohorts might be.

Best,
F. B.

So What Happened?

We both work full time. He picks things up at daycare, summer camp, pre-school, on the playground etc. It took me about a week to figure out that he was singing "life is a highway, I want to ride it all night long," because he started out by just repeating, "Mommy, do you know the song 'all night long?' Miss Liz sings that song." Miss Liz is a summer camp teacher.

"if you dont know what your child is exposed to i hate to be rude But thats bad parenting"

What?
I stay at home full time and still don't know what my kids are talking about half the time.

Example: When my daughter was 4 she kept asking for the "old man" song, and I kept singing "This old man, he plays one. He plays knick knack on my thumb." etc.

MONTHS later I found out she meant Neil Young's 'Old Man'. She must have heard it in passing on the radio. We heard it again in passing and she was so excited saying "Old Man Song! Old Man Song!"

I'm pretty sure that doesn't make me (or F. B.) a bad parent. :|

Oh! And my 2 year old has been trying to explain something about a garbage truck for days and I have no idea what he is saying. He likes it? He's scared of it? It's loud? It's blue?

No idea.

I have an almost 3 yr old. He is home with dad during the day while I am at work so not much outside influence there. He loves watching Paw Patrol and Mike the Knight. And he is reallytalking up a a storm. Problem is, we have to decipher half of what he says. What fun!

Kids are sponges--good and bad there. They pick up things so quickly and only need to hear something one time to repeat it to us. And we try to figure out what the heck they are talking about. Other kids talk about things, that does not make you a bad parent. Anyway, they are supposed to be making a new power rangers movie or show so it is entirely possible he is saying Super Power Rangers.

Enjoy while you can. The day will come that you will be trying to figure out what the heck your child is talking about because you don't know what a sub atomic machine projectory thingamajig is.... (My 15 yr old)

Probably is Super Power Rangers. My kids are WAAAAY past the power rangers ages... but if you don't know what your 4 year old is saying, you need to be more on top of what he is exposed to. He shouldn't have access (at age 4) to much that you aren't aware of... right?
