Hi Grandma T, if it makes you feel any better my car didn't start this morning so I had to wait for a tow with my 2 kids and hubby out of town. Day ended ok but what a bummer morning! Tomorrow is Friday, and you have to be happy about that!
So, I load my blender up with my usual fruits and veggies for my morning "make me smart today" smoothie, and the stupid thing is seized up and the blade wont turn!
I took a screwdriver to the bottom of it and got the little thing to turn a bit hoping it would unlock it, poured some vegetable oil on it to lube it, and it still wont go. I am so bummed.
I know, this is not a question... I hafta go to Wallyworld today to buy catfood anyway, so I guess I'll be getting a new blender as well. Pshaw!
I know I can't afford the vitamix that I would truly love to have. Share your happiness with your blender, otherwise I will probably just get me another cheap Oster...

Ooooh, not a good way to start the day. If you are looking for a new blender, I love my Ninja! Hope the rest of your day goes better!
Love my Ninja and the 2 different size container & blades that came with it.
I just bought one of those Ninja Pro's a couple of weeks ago. Our old cheapo blender just wasn't cutting it anymore (the ice barely got made into flecks... more like chunks). My son is in the beginning stages of braces and he is getting a Herbst device installed in about 2 weeks, so he will NOT be able to chew for several days.
I made an executive decision that we needed to replace the cheapo with something that works well. So I went online and WOW the reviews on this thing. I picked mine up at Bed,Bath & Beyond (using one of their 20% off coupons of course) for $80. This puppy makes SNOW.
Just be careful when dealing with the blades because they are scary sharp!
LOVE it.
I use my Cuisinart immersion blender for everything, hot or cold.
I haven't touched my regular blender in years.
I should probably get rid of it and reclaim some cupboard space.
We bought a Blend Tech (comparable to Vitamix) for $400 5yrs ago.... Best decision we ever made!
My "cheap" Oster has been blending and smoothing for me for 15 years! No complaints here.
(Try Target--Wal Mart STINKS!)
I saw an infomercial the other day with Montel Williams. He is hawking a copycat version of the Vitamix, T.. Here's the link:

It's a whole lot cheaper than the Vitamix. I hope it's worth having. Take a look at it and see if it's in your price range. It seemed to do the same stuff as the Vitamix. The Oster blender just can't handle a lot of what you are doing, and the blades and motors fail with that kind of workout.
Sorry to hear it. Once my husband told me you could make powdered sugar in the blender by putting granulated sugar in there. It started smoking and now the thing doesn't work right. I've been blenderless for a long time. :( Never try that!
