Electric Blenders - Which One Is Your Favorite

My kids bought me a Vitamix about 4 years ago. I love that thing. It's a super blender and they last forever. A little pricey but way worth the price.

I have a KitchenAid blender I got almost 10 years ago when I got married. But I would love to get a Vitamix.

I have an Oster, my mom has had an Oster for over 40 years, and it still works. She uses her blender quite often. That is why I figured I would buy that brand, if an appliance is reliable enough to last over 40 years, it must be well-made.

love my blendtec. is cost an arm and a leg, but the 7 year warranty helps. at almost 7 years mine started making an alarming noise, and they replaced it with a refurbished one that's been going strong for almost 2 years now. we paid $400 for it, and about a year ago (so around the 8 year mark) spent another hundred for a new jar thingummy.

it makes terrific milkshakes and smoothies, and also grinds grain and purees and makes almond milk. i use it multiple times per day.

mumsie had a vitamix that was also amazing.

I have a blender that's sat in the cupboard for YEARS - my husband refuses to get rid of it - but we never use it - it's at least 20 years old - possibly older.

I have a stick blender that's great for mixing may things hot or cold - and it works great if you are mixing things up in a pitcher (or pot of soup, etc) - and the detachable part is dishwasher safe.
I really love it.
I also have a Magic Bullet blender - and it's so easy to use and clean.
We use it for shakes, smoothies, etc.
Between the stick blender and Magic Bullet - they do everything we need to do - and they don't take up at lot of counter/drawer space.

I have a Kitchen Aid that I've had forever and it has been mangled by my children for years making drinks (they fill it with ice and it is still going strong). So in our experience, you can't destroy one.

However, my friend just bought one of those very expensive ones (must be the Vitamix) that everyone raves about. It was hundreds and hundreds of dollars.

I think for a milkshake, a Kitchen Aid would totally suffice.

I have an Immersion Blender Also (Cuissinart) and I can't see that being good for Milkshakes either :) It looks like it should be, but I find it always splatters. I do like it for sauces and that's about it and maybe blending a soup on the stove.

Just chiming in to say - congratulations! It is great if your boys discover the joy of "cooking" in that way...milkshakes and smoothies can be a nice filling snack, a quick breakfast...also something they can make easily when they are at college / living on their own.

I'm another lover of my nutribullet!!! It's stronger than any blender I've ever owned. We make milk shakes and fruit smoothies. I keep frozen berries and bananas on hand. I keep a container in the freezer for the bananas. When we have some getting too ripe, I peel them and toss in freezer container. They will NOT turn brown! pretty cool. Our go to is frozen fruit, a carton of yogurt and some OJ. yum! then you can add all sorts of other things.

I have an actual machine that is much like the ice cream shop's shake/malt maker. It has a metal cup that slips up and has a groove for the cup to sit in while it spins the little wheel looking thing.

I find it blends the malt/shake very well. And it's not too much to drink.

I have a KitchenAid blender that will crush ice (some are not strong enough). I've had it 5+ years and use it on a somewhat regular basis - I like it and think it does a good job.

My immersion blender has an attachment/container for shakes, but I don't like using it for that. It seems to be much messier than using my regular blender for shakes, smoothies, etc.

If you don't need the "crush ice" function, I would think that you could spend less and likely get a decent blender. If you feel like the ice function is a must (like it is for me), then I would look at higher horse-power blenders with good blades.

My mom has a magic bullet and I want to steal it every time she uses it when I am there.

Love my Nutribullet. More expensive than your average blender, but so good for shakes/smoothies. I also use it to puree bananas/eggs for gluten free pancakes and to make salad dressings. Easy to use and clean.

I love my vitamix professional. Sure, if you're only going to make milkshakes, it might be overkill, but if your boys are getting into making things, and you also enjoy cooking, this is one to check out. They last forever.

You can make anything with this beast--shakes, soups, smoothies or any kind of icy blended drink, sauces, dough, nut butters, and so many more things. It comes with a substantial cookbook that gives ideas I'd not even thought about.

I make smoothies with fruits, veggies, and protein powder that are delicious. I don't eat meat, so it's one way that helps me get enough protein in my diet. My son and his friends love the smoothies, and they don't even blink at the thought of spinach and kale being in there!

I wouldn't give up my vitamix for anything.
