My inlaws are coming to town in November and I was wondering if anyone had suggestions for what we can do while they are here. We are in the Ft. Worth area and will be taking them to the Stockyards (they are all about the "Texas" experience), but wasn't sure if there was something fun to do that I am not thinking about!

Since you are going to the stockyards, you could also ride the train to Grapevine and walk around the historic downtown. It is very different from the stockyards but still very much a "Texas" experience.

When my husband's out of state relatives were here for our wedding we took them to the 6th Floor Museum. That is about as true a Texas experience as you can get. We also took them to see the horse sculptures in Los Colinas and although we didn't have time they also wanted to see the wax museum in Grand Prairie. Hope this helps. Have fun!!

If you are looking to stay in Fort Worth, there is a variety of things to do and see in Sundance Square - good resturants, bars, movie theater, Bass Hall, art galleries etc. I like that you can park once and visit quite a few places. Sometimes there are special events and entertainment set up on the weekend. http://www.sundancesquare.com/ Upcoming events listed on thier website along with other helpful info. If you want to dine somewhere nice in Sundance Square with a "texas flair" for the visitors. Reata is always good for that and they also have the "gratto bar" area on top which is a nice place for a drink and do enjoy the view of downtown from the rooftop.
I'd also say that if you are taking your relatives down to the Stockyards area that it might be a worth a stop to Joe T Garcias on the way for lunch or dinner if it's a nice day. The back patio and garden areas are so amazing - almost every out of town guest has loved a visit there and it is a kid-friendly place if you are bringing your little ones with you. We also love Joe T's for sunday brunch.
Another good resturant to take them to in the Stockyards area is Lonesome Dove. http://www.lonesomedovebistro.com/
If your in-laws are sports fans and you don't mind leaving fort worth and venturing out a bit, we have taken relatives to tour the Ballpark in Arlington and/or taken them to a game there. You can call the ball park to get info on the dates/times of their tours. There is also a resturant inside the ballpark where you can eat and overlook the field. If you want to get out towards Dallas, there is also Mavs/Stars games to consider. Also in dallas. I think someone already mentioned the JFK mueseum which is good...and if you are in that area you might as well also take them to ball in the top of reunion tower - it is a nice place for a drink or to grab a desert and and view of Dallas (but wouldnt' eat at the resturant).
Anyway - just a few thoughts. Hope you have a great time with your visitors.

The Gaylord Texan always has stuff going on. And you could take them to Billy Bobʻs.
The Fort Worth Zoo is the best.
I am a new Texan myself, but my husband and I really like to be adventuresome. I don't know how you feel about traveling a little, but there are several neat places to see in the surrounding areas of Fort Worth, too. For instance Grapevine has the Vintage Train, which runs from the Stockyards to Grapevine. Grapevine has several really neat shops in their downtown area. If you are up for a bigger shopping experience, Grapevine Mills is the place. If they like wine, there are a few winetasting places close to the town, and not to far from downtown Grapevine is Delaney Vineyards off of Hwy. 121 which has tours. It might be worth going to Grapevine first and then taking the train to the Stockyards.
If they are up for some fresh air, then I would suggest the Botanical Gardens. The weather should be nice and they are very beautiful.
Sundance Square in downtown is fun. There are lots of restaurants and shops and it is all pedestrian friendly. If you are kid-free, you might be able to go to a place with live music.
Fossil Rim is a great place too. Its not too far from FW either.
Take them to the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame. It is on Montgomery the address is 1720 Gendy St. ###-###-####
Not in Fort Worth but the Sixth Floor Museum in Dallas is always an interesting place to take out of town visitors. I have been several times and the some of the exhibits change. Always a educational and emotional experience about the day JFK was assasinated.
The Dallas Arboretum. Not in Fort Worth. But it is beautiful. Great place for kids to run and be free!
The farmers market down town is awesome. Not sure what is there this time of year. Kennedy depository down town. The Aquarium is fun and especially with children. The bronze cattle drive on Griffin down town close to farmers market. Maybe a rodeo in the stockyards. Billy Bobs not my thing but lot of people like it. I took a tour. The stockyard tour is more interesting then just going down there. Arborteum by White Rock Lake? I have been on a tour of South Fork ranch before. Mrs. Bairds bakery plant does tours. Look in the phone book they have phone numbers and ideas. BAss Hall always has something going. Manan too. A tour and day at Caddo Lake is fun. Take a river boat ride through the swamps. Museums. Fair Park I have not done yet. Outlet malls. Hillboro, or Gainsville. Also if it is a week end before the first Canton is a lot of fun especially the end of Nov because they have a lot of stuff for Christmas. San Antonio is really not that far and fun. The river boat ride on the River Walk. Alamo. Depends on their interests and how far you want to travel and what you want to see. I have heard there is tons of stuff in Ft Worth for kids. I also was told to look in the Star Telegram on Fridays, entertainment section. Good Luck G. W
Four Day Weekend is a great, clean improv comedy show that you can catch downtown. That would be fun if you were kid free. It's a great show!
The Japanese Garden at the Botanical Gardens is just beautiful and take some quarters to feed the coi! There is the train from the Stockyards to Grapevine also. I try to do the Watergardens downtown for company and often take folks to either Joe T. Garcia's or Uncle Julios for local fare. Don't forget BBQ someplace famous.
