I had very bad stretch marks on my hips after my 2nd one about 2 1/2 years ago and they are all gone now. I think time and firming the skin up through exercise helps.

Are you familiar with Arbonne? I found their Re9 Body Serum works great on stretch marks! Let me know if you need a consultant.
Stretch marks never go completly away. They will fade over time though. It's all about the elasticity of your skin. I was fortunate and didnt get any on my belly, but still have the ones on my breats and my baby is 33.
My son told his wife wife,,"They are the marks of motherhood and are earned" I thought that was a wonderful way of putting it, and telling his wife she is still beautiful to him!
I've heard that nothing gets rid of stretch marks and that OTC remedies are a waste of money and will not work! Stretch marks will fade over time.
Nothing, outside of surgery, will get rid of your stretchmarks. Scar creams may help a little (like Mederma) but it will only fade them.
I encourage you to accept your wonderful body the way it is. You created life with your body and you should celebrate that! Check out this website for more inspiration: http://theshapeofamother.com/
I would recommend vitamin E capsules... just pierce the top and apply them, especially after bathing. However, I would also recommend you talk to someone after your experience. This alone will not help you recover from your event, as you mentioned wanting to try again.
Good Luck~
E.; most the time things cannot make them go away , they do fade after so long, and it appears as if they are not there, they are there but you cant see them after a while, its rough i know but do your best to get back in shape and do your exercises your dr gave you, if he gave you some, if not you can ask for some, either way enjoy mothering and dont worry about that stuff, just be yourself and enjoy life D. s
