Well, I took my son to the Dr. for a fever of @ 101 he had for two days. At first she said foot and mouth disease, but she would do a strep test just in case. Well, the rapid strep. test came back posisitive... so we are on antibiotics. It's just weird, he never even acted sick and I always heard kids under 2 couldn't get strep. Anyone else had anything like this happem?

What can I do next?

K.,
My oldest daughter is very prone to strep throat...She was always getting strep throat...The only way I ever knew something was wrong was low grade fever and she would eat less than normal. I had never heard about the age thing but she started really young with strep too. To this day I am paranoid because if she is around anyone with strep or who has had it recently she will get it...

I am 28yrs old and struggle with strep throat on a monthly basis (i'm getting my tonsils out on the 21st, pray that it helps). The only thing I can really suggest to keep him from re infecting himself is if he brushes his teeth get him a new toothbrush, if he's still on the bottle get new nipples, anything he puts in his mouth REPLACE PLEASE. I change everything after my infection is gone. Good Luck and I know how he feels it's not the greatest feeling as an adult so I can only imagine how a little one feels.

My son is 23 months and has had strep twice. The first time he ran a low grade fever and pretty much lost his appetite but never acted real sick. The second time around his fever was 102 for three days and would not eat or drink at all. So each case is different. It is good that you are on meds now and that it didn't get any worse.

My daughter who is 17months just had strep. I didnt know bc she continued to play and eat, then when she started not wanting to eat and pulling on the ear i took her to doctor. They said she had strep and she could of had it for awhile. I was like what she barely started acted like she was hurting. Then i caught it from her. :[ wasnt a very good week for our household.

Goodluck.

My son got strep four times last year. Each time he had very few symptoms, just a runny nose and decreased appetite. My doctor also didn't think strep at first, but that is always what it was. The good news is that strep responds very quickly to antibiotics, unlike all the virual stuff we got this year! Good luck.
