Anyone been? We are going to see my Grandfather in Winchester, VA and my mom says the railroad is not too far away. I remember going when I was in 5th grade or so and loved it. Any tips or hints?
I believe there is a AMTRACK in Winchester, VA....Strasburg VA is about 30 miles south of Winchester....however, Strasburg, PA is about 3 hours north...you can go through Gettysburg....
It's been years since I've been to Strasburg, PA - there is a train museum if I remember correctly....other than that - I can't offer any tips!! SORRY!!!
Winchester can be fun - lots of revolutionary war history - about 1 hour from me!!
They do a great Day Out with Thomas-we have gone a couple times. ITs a really cute and quaint little town. Very Amish-we took a buggy ride with them and it was very cool. Don't remember much else...I am thinking maybe there is an amusement park called Dutch Wonderland close by but I could be wrong.
Hope we are talking about the same Strasburg though. I am pretty bad with geography but I wouldn't think it would be on your way from MD to VA.
Definitely go if you are in the area. When the kids were little we were
there every year. We used to stay at the Red Caboose Motel. Kids loved it.
Love that area too. Still some Amish farms there that you could tour.
Family style restaurants are fun. I think one is Good n Plenty. Can't
remember the other one. Have fun. Dutch Wonderland amusement
park is there too.
