Dutch Wonderland- Thumbs up or Down?

We love dutch wonderland. Last summer my son was 20 months we went for the first time, it was terrific. I can hardly wait to take him back this summer becasue he'll be 2 1/2 then. It was much better than other amusement parks becuase it's really geared towards kids less than say 8 yrs old. And the rides are big enough to accomodate Mom or Dad with out being SQUISHED into the ride! It is worth the drive, and worth the money to go. (Burger King has $2 off coupons) and kids under 3 are free! There's also an entire water park, so you can do the rides in the morning and hang by the pool in the afternoon! There's nearby mini golf, outlet shopping, and the museums that other mom's talked about too. You will not be disappointed!

I haven't been in years, but Dutch Wonderland is definitely all about the kids. My SIL took her two year old last summer and there was plenty he could do. Her 5 year old had a blast. There is also tons to do in the area. Somebody already mentioned the Strausburg Railroad. The toy train museum is awesome and inexpensive. Not far from the railroad is Cherry Crest Farm. In July they their corn maze will open, but they have other activities too for kids. They have a website.

We LOVE Dutch Wonderland. Very family friendly place. Lots of fun for everyone. We went on a trip there a couple of years ago to meet a friend and her family who live in NY (we're in MD) and everyone had a great time! We went back last year for a day trip and plan to go again this year for a day trip.

My daughter was almost 2 the first time we went. There was some stuff for her to do, but she couldn't do everything. Last year was better when she was close to 3 and this year she'll be almost 4 when we go and I expect her to have a blast (and us too)! She still remembers it and talks about it. She can't wait to go back. (My son just turned 1. I don't expect there's too much for him to do there, but he'll probably be along for the ride in a stroller, unless my in-laws watch him again for the day.) It seems mostly aimed at kids through age 11 or 12 maybe. After that, it probably wouldn't be cool enough. Then Hershey Park might be your next stop! :-)

Also, don't miss the water park area. It's great fun and if you like water slides, there's a great one that adults can do. :-) Check out their website in advance to plan ahead.

My in laws live right by Dutch Wonderland and my MIL is more than excited to take my two there this summer. My kids are 3 and 2. I have not been there yet but the way my MIL and husband talk about it, it is great for younger kids. I would suggest checking out the website too.
There are some great train museums right by Dutch Wonderland too. I take my kids to the Strasburg Railroad Museum and there is also a model train museum a short drive away. If your kids like trains, you HAVE to go. I like these places much better than the B&O. Have fun!

I am living in Baltimore and we go to Lewis Delaware all summer long, took neice(5) and nephew (4)to the Rehobeth Boardwalk. The have a little amusement park and a few little rides for the young kids and my niece and nephew seemed to enjoy themselves just fine. If you have daredevils then this park may be too tame. I have heard great things about Dutch Wonderland too, perfect for young kids who can not do big kid rides.

I haven't been there since I was a kid, but many of my friends said it is cool for little ones. Nice stuff there, but nothing TOO MUCH. it' not like you can get on a rollercoaster with a 2 & 5 yo. Have you checked out thier website? My husband and I hit the Jersey coast a few yrs back, when My son was 2ish-we went to Wildwood(another childhood destination) and was shocked to find how adult & rundown it had become. A stranger referred us up the coast a bit more to Point Pleasant and, how nice! Very mellow little town with a small boardwalk and VERY family oriented. It was very nice- not nearly as congested at OC or wildwood. Nice beach, a carnival section specifically for little ones and an aquarium.
