I just recently stopped nursing almost 2 weeks ago and I have concerns about a lump in one of my breasts. I am not sure if it would be similiar to a clogged milk duct or something else. Anyone else had any similiar experiences with advice would be helpful.

Perhaps I am just being paranoid??

What can I do next?

Jessica,
Is the lump tender or painful? Clogged ducts are generally pretty uncomfortable. You might try a warm compress. I would say keep a close eye on it. If it doesn't go away relatively quickly or increases in size, give your doctor a call. Something like that isn't worth playing around with.

Did you wean gradually? "Cold turkey" is hard on your breasts (and your baby!) which is one of the reasons why gradual weaning is recommended.

Try putting Warm Compresses on it, if it doesn't go away after about a week then you may want to follow up with your OB/GYN to make sure that you don't have any type of infection or anything.

That did happen to me at one point. My son slowed down on his feeding and I had a lump in my breast. I went to the doctor and was told to use a warm compress to work it out... but I was still breastfeeding at the time. If it's concerning you then by all means get it checked! I never tried this, and it sounds a bit odd, but I have been told by several people that the best way to dry up your milk is to crinkle up some cabbage leaves to break the vessels and then place them in your bra. If you try this, let me know how it works!

You should probably call your doctor. It's probably just as you said, a clogged milk duct, but it's not something you should "just wait and see". Have it checked out it will make you feel better. --T.

Yes, I have had similar experiences. It has been a long time since I nursed my kids but I remember is vividly. My daughter was my second child and from the moment she was born she wanted to nurse all the time. My breasts became to sore but I stuck it out for about 6 months. When I tried to slow the nursing down my milk was just flowing like crazy from so much nursing. My breast became engorged and very painful, and eventually rock like. The doctor told me that she could use a prescription but first advised me to pack my breasts in ice. Which I did. It eventually worked.
Any lump should be checked out by your doctor, though, just to rule out anything serious.

ITA try warm compresses and either pumping or hand expressing. Clogged milk ducts can be very painful
