I just had a baby almost 3 months ago and have ben taking the yaz birth control for about 2 1/2 months. I got my first period about 2 weeks ago, which seemed normal, but I am still spotting and it is getting frustrating! I dont know weather or not to call the OB/GYN or to just wait until my hormones straighten out. Does anyone know if this is normal or not? Thanks for any advice!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you for all the advice, I ended up calling the nurse to ask about it.. she said to give it at least 4 months to get your body back on track. Hopefully it will stop after that!

I have never taken Yaz specifically, but I know girls are more likely to spot with low dose pills. I breast fed both of my babies, so I was always prescribed a "mini-pill" for birth conrol so I wouldn't lose my milk. I always spotted while taking those. My dr told me that that was usually the case with low dose. I didn't go back to normal until after I stopped bf and went back to a higher dose pill.

This might sound gross, but I promise it works!! Go get a pound of calf liver, thaw it a little, cut it up into little chunks, cook on LOW heat (or it will burn), then add onions and lots of spaghetti sauce, eat it with spaghetti noodles. The best would be to eat the calf liver all in one day, but if you have to, eat the spaghetti for lunch and dinner (and snacks) over 2 days. Or, they have liver capsules at health food stores if you can't fathom eating liver!! The liver has a component in it that our bodies need to stop bleeding. You are low on iron and this component, that is why you are still spotting. Also, this is a good remedy for people you know who have heavy periods. They are low on that component that helps the body to stop bleeding. That is why they get blood clots. The body is trying to clot the blood to stop, which isn't working. That is a lot of blood to stop.
Hope this helps!

Did you ever stop bleeding from birth? I bled for a good 11 weeks, although 13 months later, I still haven't started my period again. I'm assuming that the Yaz is for the PPMD and not as much birth control as they usually don't start it that early. I would take into account the below comment about how long it can take to adjust to it, but also the throught that you haven't finished bleeding from the delivery.

This is the second round for me trying the yaz. I take it for PMDD symptoms. The first time I tried it I bled for 14 days strait for two months and then stopped taking it. I talked to my doctor and she said that I needed to take it for at least three months and that I had to be very strict about taking it at the same time everyday.

Now on the second time around I've finally stopped spotting and it really has helped me with my pms symptoms after three months. I would talk to your doctor about the symptoms you've been having and if after the three month period the spotting doesn't stop I would try another birth control. Hope this was helpful. T.

From past experience, I would say that the Yaz birth control is not right for you. I would talk to your doctor and he can write you another prescription for another one. Sometimes it takes a few kinds of birth control to get the right level that matches your body. Spotting all the time is not fun and usually it means that the progesterone level is not correct.

I do not know about the birth control, but it seems like I spotted forever after my son was born.

If you are not sure call your doctors office and ask the nurse, she will usually talk to the doctor and get back to you.

Enjoy your little one.

I have irregular periods and use birth control to control them. Besides as a method of birth control. Anyway. I don't like all the hormones so my doctor put me on yaz. I had the same problem. I kept spotting and more. She said I needed a little more hormones so she put me on the sister product yazmin. It works great. I would definitly call your doctor. The hormones are telling your body to stop bleeding.

You should be fine, just give it a month or so, I take Yaz and it took a while for it to all work out but now I am just fine. My baby is 7 months old and I have been regular for at least three months now.
