We're looking for some fun things to do over spring break without breaking the budget. We would like to do some things in the DFW area but still be able to sleep in our own beds. I've looked at places like Adventure Landing, Main Event, Amazing Jakes, the different zoos. Any other ideas? THANKS!!

What can I do next?

I know you mentioned wanting to sleep in your own beds, but here's an inexpensive idea to expand your horizons, particularly if you enjoy the outdoors. There is a Texas Outdoor Family Workshop being held in state parks throughout Texas, and the Isle du Bois Branch at Lake Ray Roberts State Park in particular is holding one March 20-21. Cost is $55 (you bring your own food), and they provide a 6-person tent and air mattress, offer group instructions on setting up camp, cooking, kayaking, family fishing, hiking, geocaching, nature crafts, and more. You can find out info. at http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/learning/bof/index.phtml.

What about a hockey game or basketball game? Baseball doesn't start until April.

We aren't from your area, but we like to find parks with trails and walk. Our little one is not 2 yet, so we never get very far, but we have fun.

you can go to fortworthchild.com and click on "calendar" to see events or places that you'd like to see. you can click what dates/month you're interested in, too, but sometimes i look at it and think "hmm, that is interesting but i can't go this month" but then go to that place's website and see OTHER things they're offering at other times.
great wolf lodge is getting a lot of attention these days. ripley's believe it or not, or medieval times (they have buy 1 get 1 free coupons in the sunday paper all the time). there's loads of museums and theaters to go see a play or musical in dfw. on a pretty day, we like to go to a museum (thinking amon carter, kimbell, cowgirl, or the natural history/science museum for your kids) in the morning, then go to the botanical gardens for a picnic and to kick around a soccer ball, play catch or frisbee, and tour the spring blooms, then go to sundance square to walk around, explore the water gardens by the convention center, get some ice cream, stand on the parking garage roof and see the angels at bass up close, stuff like that. simple, cheap, but fun.
have you thought a short camping trip? or going to fredricksburg and seeing the hillcountry, maybe a wildflower trip?

I don't know the ages of your family members, but there are Segway tours in Minneapolis and St. Paul that are a blast (ages 13+) Check out www.magicalhistorytour.com
