So if you have read my previous post you will see I reached out for help this year and last for presents for my kids.
I want to give back not only to the person who responded with help but I want to go farther than that and start a FB group to get other people involved in donating at least one can of food for those in need. I BELIEVE INTHE STATEMENT "IT TAKES A VILLAGE"....

We all fall on hard times in our life, although it comes in many different forms.

I need ideas in how to get this started. I would love to start a website called "it takes a village" but have no clues where to start... ANY IDEAS???

OK FB group is up. Its called "It takes a Village SCV Area".....I feel God calling me to do this..... Must be a good thing. :

I would start with the FB page and go from there... Because of the growth of FB maybe you will find someone who will be able to assist in actually setting up a formal website....

Make sure everyone you know is aware of your group and ask everyone in your network to spread the word, too. I haven't taken a look at your group, but if it doesn't already have this information, I would include links to organizations that can use the canned food. For instance, you might include a link to Feeding America, which has a list of local food banks in its network. Make it very, very easy for people to follow through.

What a wonderful thing you've started! Best wishes with your efforts.

You can purchase a domain name for $8 per month from hostgator.com. That is what I use for my daughter's non-profit site. You will have to set it up yourself though, or get someone who knows how to help you out with that.

Keep in mind that with FB "groups" no info will show up in the member's newsfeeds...so they have to remember to go check it (which most people forget). A "fan page" where they "like" the page is the best way to go. Anything posted by you (or other page admins) will show up in the member's newsfeed. And the posts you make will show up as "It takes a village.." not as your personal profile (like it does on the fb "groups").

I really don't know how you could start, but I do know that godaddy.com has really reasonable options for webpages. I'll be starting a website with them at the new year. They have many options as well. But, I think starting with posting it on facebook could be a potentially great start. Word of mouth works wonders!!
Good luck...I think what you are doing is great!!

I just looked up the group to join and there are a ton with that name. Not sure which one is yours. Is there anything you can add to the name to make it unique?
