Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get out stains? My daughter sat in something at the park today, and I can not seem to get the stain out! I've tried Oxy Clean and also have tried vinegar.... any other suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you ALL for the great suggestions! I'm definitely prepared next time a stain comes my way! I ended up making an Oxy clean paste and soaked it over night for a couple of times and it eventually went away.

I love Spray and Wash Foam. It has never failed me! The worst of stains it has got out. Hope it works for whatever you're trying to wash out.

What do you think she sat in? I had to use Goo Gone several times when my son sat on tar. If it might be grease WD40 also works well.

I'd keep at it with the oxy clean. Soak it, overnight or for a few days if need be. Just don't DRY it or it will set. Good luck!

There are just some stains that won't come out...it's a huge bummer! However, I've tried many things and have found using the oxyclean max spray to be the best as removing most stains. I keep it at my washer and use it regularly. After spraying the stain, I use a toothbrush to help loosen the stain. I've also been know to make an oxyclean paste (from the regular powder) and let it set on a stain for awhile. Good luck with whatever you try!

If OxiClean didn't work in the wash, try soaking the clothes in it. The directions are on the box.

I had some clothes with "unremovable" stains that were there for YEARS. I soaked them in OxiClean and cold water for three days and then washed them and the stains came out!

Good luck!!

If you have a 99 Cent Store by you, they have a product called Soilove. It gets out EVERYTHING. I bought it when I dropped a pan of pasta sauce all over my favorite pajamas. And it's only 99 cents. :)

No matter what product you try, if you don't know what the stain is be sure to use cool water and avoid putting the garment in the dryer. That way you won't set the stain, and if it doesn't come out this round, maybe the next.

I have found that a solution of Dawn and cool water gets lots of stuff out that laundry products don't work on. Clorox sells a bleach pen that works well if the stain is on a while garment or something with a white background.

Palmolive. The bar soap is the best, but the dishwashing liquid does great, too.

Great product called Zout --very cheap, VERY effective! You can also use Lestoil, which is actually a floor cleaner, but works wonders on clothing stains. My mother and grandmother both used it as their primary stain remover, with a total of 13 kids between them.

something that my MIL has suggested, I never would have thought would work but it has helped with some stains I thought would never come out. A toothbrush and baby body wash. I didn't believe it but it saved my husbands treasured classic white baseball jersey! Its something you probably have at home and heck its worth a try! Good Luck!

Folex Carpet Cleaner. (it comes in a big white spray bottle). It's harsh on fabrics, but as a last resort, it does get stains out.

Have you tried Borax? We make a Borax 'paste' that has taken out almost ALL of the red clay and grass stain from Little League games. Also hairspray does wonders for inks and polish stains. I am sure you could look up on Good Housekeeping's "Ask Helouise" or better yet, "REAL SIMPLE", the magazine, is FULL of ways to do things and their online library the best I've seen!

Just let me know if you need anything else!

Oxy Clean never works for me either. I either go with Shout. Also, liquid Tide. You pour it on the stain, let it sit for a few minutes and then wash. I also wash it in cold water so the stain doesn't set. If I pull it out of the washer and see that the stain is still there, I won't put it in the dryer, but I'll wash it again treating the stain.

Use these products:

Use these and the stains may just come out in the laundry. If they don't you can combine 2 tablespoons of each in a bucket of water and stir up. Put the ruined piece of clothing in for up to a week. You will be amazed at what you can save! Don't mix with other pieces of clothing as the color can transfer, but there is NO bleach involved. Just non-toxic products.

I used Advanced Shout Gel works miracles (in the blue bottle). I actually still get great results even after I dry something that I forgot to pre-spot.

you know what i have noticed?
having not had very much money, i would just let my kids wear the stained clothing. i still wore clothing that got stain as well. and in both cases, no matter what kind of stain it was, and even if i had dried it, after about 10 to 20 washes the stain would come out. so if you do EVERYTHING to get it out and it hasnt come out yet, and it was your favorite outfit, just wear it somewhere casual, like on the playground, then wash it again. it will come out EVENTUALLY just how the colors fade, so will the stains!

i would definitely try the soaking in oxiclean. i do that as well, then i just forget about it if that doesnt work.
dont stress yourself!
good luck and let me know what worked for you!

Hi,

I use Nature Bright Laundry Booster and Stain Remover by Shaklee. It's 60% more effective than Oxyclean and safe, safe, safe (earth-friendly too)! I add a scoop to my laundry and I also keep a mop bucket of water and Nature Bright in my laundry room. When something looks like it might stain or has stained, I throw it in the bucket and wash it the next time I do a load. We rarely stain anything! Shaklee's Fresh Laundry detergent is awesome too. You can use it as a pre-wash stain remover also. They are both super concentrated so they'll last you a long time and save you money. Check them out at www.greennutrition.info and register to win $200 of free products at www.freegreenproducts.info. Good luck!
