We have just started feeding our four month old solid foods. I've been using shout stain remover and it is only working some of the time. It worked very well on her spit up stains but it's just not cutting it with the food. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get rid of the nasty food stains???!!! I don't want my daughter always looking dirty!! :) Please help.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I rubbed oxi clean on the stains (even the old ones) and washed them in the washer with a little (not much) bit of Biz. The clothes looked good as new. Thank you everyone for your great ideas!! Moms need other moms :)

If it's on something white, I might try a bleach pen (in the stain remover section of the store). I would wash it separately after I use the bleach pen. It's just bleach in a pen-like applicator so you can hit just a small area, and not any colored parts of the item. I supposed there's a chance the bleach will spread to a colored part so choose the item carefully. Now that my youngest of 4 kids is 3 years old, I'd look back at those stained clothes and smile at the memories of his cute little face all messy with food. Enjoy ... stains and all.

I use spray 'n wash. Also with bibs or other clothing rising the item right away helps, then spray it. If you don't wash it right away spray it again before washing. There are still plenty of stains that I haven't got out because I either forgot to spray or let sit to long. But with three kids and a fourth on the way, sometimes you just don't think about those stains until they come out of the dryer.
I have used spray 'n wash on old stains that have been washed before and it did get most if not all of the old stain out. Good luck.

There is now OxyClean Baby..it's supposed to get out the food/formula/spit up...It's a little hard to find, but from what I've heard, it's the only thing other moms have had luck with.

I use Melaleuca's Prespot. It gets anything out even if the stain is set in. You can only order it on Melaleuca.com or from an agent. The plus side is it is a more natural product, therefore better for your household and baby!

I use Zout, it even gets out old stains that have been through the dryer(Iused to buy the gel formula, but I cannot find it here, target carries the spray). The key is, once you take it out of the washer, check it and if the stain is not out spray it one more time and put it through the wash again. A dryer will set the stain. Check out "The Queen of Clean", I am not sure if she has a website, but I have her book on laundry and it has all kinds of info from getting out blood to grass stains.

I add oxyclean to every load. If there are items with obvious stains, I soak them in a bucket with oxyclean before I wash them. It works wonders.

Hi S.,

I use Oxi clean, I now buy the powder in all our loads but I have also used the spray. Both work very good, I just find it easier to add it into each of the loads of laundry.
By the way if you have a Sam's membership you can get a 11 pound box there it is much cheaper then buying it at Wal-mart or even the grocery store.

Yes, I have a great suggestion. Add Biz Bleach to every wash load. I have four boys and it seems if there is a stain to be found, they will find it. It is the only thing that I have found that works really really well. Good Luck! Kati

For formula stains and most food stains, I soak the clothes in the hottest water they will withstand and the least amount of water you need. Put your regular detergent in the washing machine and add 4 scoops Oxy-clean (this is for a small to medium load). I get the generic brand and it works fine. Then let it sit overnight. I have to let the machine start the cycle and then turn it off. In the morning, turn it back on and let it finish. Voila. No more stains. I love this method.

I use Dawn dish soap and hadn wash the staing then throw it in the dish washer, i have also done the same thing with generic hand soap, antibacterial, and that works to, just scrub it with water then wash it regularly.
