hehheeh I watched that movie in my room all bymyself in the dark... I hadda put the covers on my head !!
You know that moment when you are sitting home, alone (except for the baby), and you realize that you should NOT have watched that scary movie by yourself?
Yeah.
I remember doing that to myself when my DD was only a couple weeks old. I watched Paranormal Activity while hubby was working the late shift. It got over, and I was freaking myself out. I wound up turning on every light in the apartment, and holding my DD until hubby got home. He laughed himself silly when I told him how much I had freaked myself out, and that I had been up for 3 hours waiting for him because I just couldn't go into the bedroom. (lightbulb in there had blown out, so it had no light...)
Then I did it again to myself last night! lol. Granted, we are living with my in-laws now, so they were technically here... but they were in bed, so I was essentially alone. *sigh*
So what do you do when you do this to yourself?
I have found that I can't watch the scary movies so much any more. It sucks, because when I was growing up I used to LOVE watching movies that scared all my friends! I was never freaked out by anything like that... it's only in the last few years that I get scared. lol.

I don't do this. Not since I was in high school and saw Nightmare on Elm Street (I'm 44!!). I have not watched a "scary" movie since and even now, I close my eyes and plug my ears when some commercials come on....like Paranormal Activity. I don't see how people that see those shows can ever sleep again! So nope, not me...no way!
Paranormal Activity should be banned! That stupid movie freaked me out for WEEKS! I am ok with most movies but ghost ones just trip me out. Really I don't think it would be better if my husband was here or not and we were haunted, I think he would just run off...and he runs faster than I do. :)
Unfortunately, I have a very active imagination and I am a worrier. It doesn't help that my husband works out of town Mondays to Fridays leaving me the only adult in the house. For these reasons, I have stopped watching scary movies. They keep me up, rob me of sleep and feelings of well-being. So I just don't make time for them any more. No movies, no tv, I don't even watch scary commercials. It's not worth it and most of the time, they're poorly done and not worth my time.
When I am feeling that spookiness threaten to come over me, I turn on the lights and prop myself up with tons of pillows and a novel. Or I'll watch DVR'd 30Rock or something funny like that. I try to will the eerie thoughts out of my head and just let a good book or funny tv show consume me. Usually I end up falling asleep with the light on and wake at 3 in the morning to turn them off.
Of course, the mama friends are always here too!
I don't even watch cop shows or dark television. When my hubby was deployed I would watch the Playboy Bunny girls because it was the only thing that was not freaking me out.
Even Discover and the History Channel get to be too much.
When they start havign the commercials for scary movies I make sure the doors are locked and change the channel to QVC or the religious ones.
LOL! This is funny b/c it hits a little too close to home! I literally cannot watch scary movies anymore. At all. Ever. In fact when my husband goes out of town I don't even allow myself to watch Law and Order SVU for fear of murderers and rapists! I have a way over active imagination and don't sleep well at all when I'm home alone (with the kids).
I usually sleep with the TV on and make sure I have the home phone, cell phone and that every window and door is locked. I also leave the lights in the backyard on so that a burgler might be discouraged with so much lighting! I need help!! ;) Luckily we have a dog but he's so clueless that sometimes I even worry that he'll just welcome anyone in so that they'll pet him!
Don't feel silly- even my husband who is afraid of like NOTHING was freaked out after watching that movie.
I know how I will get, so I do not watch scary movies. It is not worth the loss in sleep! Funny how we tell our kids, "There is no such thing as monsters" over and over but sometimes we still get sucked in ourselves!
I don't watch scary movies.
It's that simple.
Now, I admit I have a penchant for the old "horror" movies like the black and white ones that are actually more funny than frightening.
Get yourself a nightlight or flashlight for the bedside? I don't know--I was the kid who told the ghost stories at summer camp and scared the other kids! My sister was the one to freak out and wake me up. But I don't go out of my way to watch scary movies by myself in the middle of the night (just X-file reruns).
I dont watch the scary ones now because they are mostly just blood and guts stuff. but, when I was in high school I would stay up "late" and watch Unsolved Mysteries and get soooooooo scared and freaked out. Our tv was in the downstairs living room (it was a tri-level house) and I would run the 5 steps up to the main floor and turn around to check and see if there were any ghosts behind me and then run the 5 steps upstairs and do the same, I would be so sure something was going to get me...LOL.
