Hi Mamas,

Last night I watched alien..IT was late at night and I was wound up couldn't sleep. I've seen the movie numerous times but it always gives me the creeps...The Shining does the same...Hair raising scenes. So in your opinion what do you think is the scariest movie of all time?

Sheesh, that movie makes me not want to look at my bare belly just in case there is "Help Me" written there!

Signs is the scariest for me because I live on a farm. It hits a little too close to home and really freaks me out!

Definitely, for me, it is the Exorcist. Can't even see "that face" or hear "that voice". Those of you who are freaked out by that movie will know what I mean!
Another movie that freaked me out was Hostel. The blood and gore movies don't usually bother me but this was really sadistic and psychotic which added another level to it.

It wasn't necessarily horrifying, but I was haunted by "I am Legend" for quite a few days. Something about human beings becoming such disgusting and scary creatures was very creepy to me. It was an excellent movie, and Will Smith is such a great actor that any time he cries in a movie it really tugs at my heart strings.

I don't watch a lot of scairy movies, but I recall the Blair Witch Project really creeping me out. It just seemed too real with getting lost in the woods, being disoriented and seeing all these crazy things. Yuck, giving me the chills just thinking about it.

Def The Shining. I remember seeing it for the first time when I was about 11. It was the first and only movie to keep me up at night. So well written and just plain scary. The second one that comes to mind is the original The Omen. Anything with children is scary to me for some reason. The Ring was also pretty scary the first time I saw it.

Henry Portrait of a Serial Killer.
I enjoy supernatural thrillers and all, but real life psychos scare me.
The original Texas Chainsaw Massacre (not the new shiny one with corny horny models for actors) was pretty creepy too.
My all time favorite creepy movie is The Orphanage.
The Audition (psycho lady) was super creepy, and I loved The Host (monster).

I personally am a huge fan of Horror Classics! By today's standards they are more comical than scary, but they are fun. There are lots of truly frightening movies out there now, and I have seen a good number of them, but I like to not forget where they started. I LOVE all of the old Bela Lugosi films, including Dracula, from the 30's. Todd Browning's Freaks! (from 1932) is a really good one. Actually one of the Little people in that movie was in the Wizard of Oz as well. There is the old silent Nosferatu from 1922. Obviously vampires and werewolves are all the rage, it's kind of different to see that they weren't always the sleek young sexy versions they are now. But what can I say, I'm a little odd. *laugh!* I'm not even 30 yet, but I like movies from 50+ years before I was born. ;)

Back when I was young I got up in the middle of the night to get a drink of water from the kitchen. My mom and a friend were watching The Exorsist (the orig) and I happened to walk in at the part where her head was spinning and she was spewing green vomit. I turned around, went back to bed (with the lights on) and have not watched a scary movie since!

House of 1,000 Corpses is definitely the scariest movie I have ever seen. Mainly because those type of people are real and actually do things like they did in that movie. The Shining comes in a close second.

Ghost Ship really scary movie.
I love Hitchcock movies but I've never seen 'The Birds' to scary.
Psycho scary
Sleeping with the Enemy with Julia Roberts -- scary because it happens every day -- women are abused and feel as though they have no where to go.
Pelecian Breif -- love the movie but it's scary because you don't know for sure who the good guys are and who the bad guys are.

As a child, Amytiville scared me, as did the Puppet Master.

The book IT was very scary to me, but the movie not as much.
I've never seen the whole movie (either the original or remake) of The Shining, nor the whole original Exorcist.

Candyman & Paranormal Activity 2 take the top. My daughter & I have a gore-a-thon just about every weekend where we try to scare eachother w/the freakiest movies, just recentl watched the Exercism of Emily Rose, I didn't even finish watching it - it wasn't as good as the first. But Paranormal Activity 1 & 2 were freaky - still won't go into the laundr room w/out the lights on!!!!

I HATE SCARY MOVIES!

'Se7en' still freaks me out to go past it when it's on tv.

BUT the idea of Gwenyth Paltrow's head in a box makes me smile a little. She's soooo annoying.

The music from "The Omen" scares the hell out of me!

MY FAV!! Any of the SAW movies are good... but great? House of 1,000 Corpses (ditto for the sequel, OMG I CAN'T THINK OF IT!!, it's the other Rob Zombie movie)... The first 'Hills have Eyes'... the classic Stephen King movies (the books are always better)... My head hurts and I can't think just now, but scary movies (like the kind that give grown ups nightmares) are my FAV!! :)

Well for me that used to be ''IT''. But i think its corny now(the fact that the clown is really like a big spider is just silly, much scarier as a clown) and "pet cemetary" freaked me out to, but now again i think its just silly, and Gage is wayy too cute to be scared of. Movies with scary little girls are stupid to me, like "the ring" and stuff like that. Maybe because i have two little girls and i always imagine that if they got mean with me id just ground them , lmao

The movie that still trips me out though is Silence of the lambs......eeeek..that could really happen, and does happen!, Plus Hannibals character is so grotesque and evil, but also sophisticated and a little vigilante-like. It makes me not know which side to take and that freaks me out.

I read IT years ago - the book was so intense I have never been able to bring myself to watch the movie.

But, for me, the scariest movie I have ever watched was Poltergeist. I was in my teens and just about crawled onto my friends lap in the theatre. That movie had everything in it that I was majorly afraid of - shadowy evil trees in the window, stuffed animals that come to life, and a scary clown.

I don't watch a lot of horror movies - never seen a Jason, Freddy Kruger, Saw, etc. movie in my life. I just don't like to be scared witless. LOL

Fun question. Thanks!
