Speaking of Grilling...

So far as I can tell god is doing some grand experiment to see if he can turn the city of St Louis into jerky. Thursday we had temps around 108, yesterday 106, who knows what today will bring.

At the moment I am thanking that same god that both my husband and I can grill. We haven't cooked inside for weeks. We have a great AC but nothing can fight off those temps...okay some systems can but come on, for a week or two out of the year...

So I was wondering how many other people are grilling more due to the heat?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Queen it was nothing more than a relay. When they are going bad they will stick in extreme heat. So eight dollars later it is fixed, I love when that happens. :)

Right now Troy is out there making pancakes and sausage. We have a griddle for the Weber, you can make awesome sliders on it as well. :)

Oh, we have a pool too so it is pretty easy to stay cool outside. It is just inside I want it frosty but without breaking the bank.

We grill year round, even in 3 ft. of snow when it's 20 degrees.

When it's so hot, we don't feel like cooking or eating large meals so we stick with simple stuff like sandwiches, salads and pasta. Breakfast is always no cook in this weather - cereal, bagel, fruit.

Yep! Been grilling several times a week.

By the way, how's your car's a/c?

ETA: That is awesome that it was a simple, and CHEAP, fix :) Enjoy the drive!

We grill anything, even little cakes to put berries and cream over. We also crockpot outside to prevent heat inside. We have been much cooler only 100 Thursday and yesterday about 94. Stay cool.

We grill out A LOT!! But the weather has nothing to do with it. In the winter time, we break out the shovel (if we have snow) and shovel the deck off around our grill so we can grill out!! I always say our neighbors must think someone in this neighborhood is crazy!!!!

I was wondering about your car too, J.. SO glad it's fixed, and doubly glad that it was an easy fix!

Our grill isn't working - either we are going out or fixing food that doesn't take long to cook!

Grilling MORE? Uh, no. It hit 114 here yesterday so no, we don't like to go outside into hell to just stand there over even MORE heat and grill. lol! We don't grill at ALL in the summer, only in winter for us when its 65-75 the whole time. =) P.S. I do have a Foreman Grill inside so *technically* we do grill, just not on our outside grill.

Yep, turning on the stove or oven to heat up the house is nuts. It only takes 10 minutes to grill most things on the grill.

Turn it on, plop the meat on there, give it a few then turn it over.
Done. Chicken Breast with the bone in with the skin, throw it on the top rack, close the lid, go inside for 20 min. Poof done.

A little olive oil, a nice long salmon (Costco)with dill, Salt and pepper, lemon slices in foil. Plop it n the grill, 4 min one side, turn over entire package, cook another 4 to 6 minutes.

We do not stand out side with the grill. We come in while it cooks. We just watch the time.

I know it is hot up there, but down here, this is our normal. Ice is our savior.. Lots and lots of iced drinks. we can go through a 10 lb bag a day.

Absolutely using the grill instead of cooking inside. We love to grill anyway, but this is the way to go in this crazy heat!

Although it's nice to cook outside so you're not heating up the oven or stove inside, we can't stand being out in the heat standing next to the grill to cook out there right now.
I've got crock pot bbq ribs cooking now.
Other hot weather foods we like:
Gazpacho, and cold potato soup
salad especially cucumber salad
sandwiches, subs
take out anything
