WOW! I think Laura S. is just plain rude! I do not live in TX, so I can't help you out, but I think ANY parent should encourage their child to speak AS MANY different languages as possible! Hope you can find a group to meet up with soon!
I've asked before w/no luck but I'll try one more time.
Any moms out there know of a Spanish speaking church that has a Mother's Day Out program? A nice place in a nice part of town.
My daughters are 18mo. and 3. My husband speaks only spanish to them but I'd really like them to use Spanish w/the peers. Our friends kids don't speak Spanish. We travel to Guatemala each summer and my 3 year old speaks a little Spanish there... I'd so like her to get a little more practice here at home.
Thanks!

The United States is made up of MANY people.
Mexicans, Italians, Vietnamese, Chinese, Puerto Ricans, Irish, Scottish, Samoyans, Japanese, oh, the list goes on and on and on.
If you want your child to learn multiple languages...go for the gold!!!!
I commend you for having enough heart to want to encourage your child to be all that he can be.
Kuddos to you!!!
And pay no nevermind to the politically incorrect statement below.

P.S. Sorry I said 'he"...I mean "she'...
Mundo De Fe is a Spanish speaking church. It is part of Churches in Covenant. I am not sure if they have MDO, but they might have children's church.
I see you have received a lot of good suggestions and I commend you for wanting your children to be bilingual....but, they need to know how to speak English fluently to do well in school so, perhaps a bilingual MDO might be a good idea.....as was pointed out there are a lot of languages spoken in our great country but the predominate is English and those that don't speak well do not do as well professionally. Good luck to you!
There may be something like a council of churches,
a fellowship of churches in your area
where many churches are linked together.
Try calling that office, if there is one, to ask that question.
Or . . . is there a Spanish-speaking radio station
or local newspaper? Call them and ask.
Good luck!!

Y'know, it seemed pretty clear to me that C. speaks English.
She said her husband speaks Spanish.
She also said the family visits Guatemala every summer.
She was looking for an opportunity for her children
to have more practice speaking Spanish, ideally with other children.
FWIW, I'm pretty sure that Spanish was spoken
in that part of Texas before English speakers arrived.
SO CURIOUS as to what L. S. said!! haha
You are in Texas.....people speak spanish ALL OVER!!! Get on the internet and google whatever religion you are (baptist, Christian, Catholic...ect) and put "Spanish mass or Misa en espanol" and see what pops up. I think you could also try Spanish playgroups...I am SURE there are some. I have been involved in ones up here in my homestate.
I am up here in WA so can't help you with Texas...but Google really seems to help me out! (my friend does have a saying above her computer that says "google doesn't have all the answers!")
I am a certified medical interpreter and my husband is from Mexico. My children understand spanish but do not speak it...don't know why! I think it's great that you want to have them out and about with other spanish speakers!
