This is going to be the most odd Thanksgiving I have endured in the past 16 years but I am so grateful that I have come this far! I want to give back has anyone volunteered on Thanksgiving day at a homeless shelter or soupkitchen? What are your thoughts?
I don't have any experience but I too have been considering doing this for Thanksgiving this year and would love to know of some places that you can do it for!
i have done this with my then 9 yr old daughter.......it was such a great experience for both of us.....we have done it a couple more times after that first experience at my daughters request......i have much younger children now (5, 4, &2) but this will be something we will all do as a family in the future when they are older..........this is a humbling experience that everyone should experience......remember you dont have to do this just for the holidays
I've done it before and loved it! I will definitely do it again and involve my kiddos when they are older. It always feels great to help others!

I'm sure this will be a good experience for you. also, they need servers everyday, not just Thanksgiving. You may want to consider another, quieter day. fyi.
I've done it for Christmas many years ago with a friend and it was very rewarding. Our church has a chili lunch for the homeless and I've done that also and it is very rewarding. Most of them are very polite and say thank you and friendly.
I would highly recommend it.
