Sore Breasts, Not Pregnant?

Both of my breasts have been sore as if I was pregnant or getting my period, it's been about four days now with no relief. I do have the mirena and haven't had sex in ten months ;) so can't be pregnant and don't get a period or pms symptoms typically at all. I'm not nursing, don't exercise like I should, haven't started anything new that would irritate them. Anyone ever experience this and what happened? What caused it and how long did it last? Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I've been fitted so it's not the bras! I've wondered with the hormones in mirena, I had it between kids and didn't have any issues but also didn't have it in this long that time..And have never had problems with hormones before but I'm not getting any younger ;) lol..calling the doctor Monday!

I wondered if someone would bring the no sex part up, I dont care to address that for many personal reasons! It wasn't something I asked for advice on, and prefer to stick to the question at hand. Thanks!

This happened to my grandma last summer - she was definitely not pregnant! LOL. But when she went to the doc, he told her that her bras were too tight (she had gained some weight recently and hadn't gotten new ones, I guess). Once she bought new bras the pain went away.
I heard somewhere that 70% or more of women are wearing the wrong bra size. Could that be it at all?

Sometimes mine hurt around ovulation time because of a change in hormones.

Thank you! You have solved a major mystery for me. My breast tenderness has become outrageous around ovulation, and I could not figure out why. I too, have Mirena--and the tenderness only began after I got it. Now, is it worth taking out over this issue? Hmm, no.

I totally thought I was entering early menopause or something. The only thing that helped the tenderness for me was bio-progesterone cream (made from yams). But I'm nervous about using it too much--the jury is still out on it contributing to breast cancer.

Thanks again! Oh and BTW, I know several HAPPILY married couples who only have boom boom once or twice a year. Another pal and her hubby did it every night--and they're getting divorced! It's not a marker of a good marriage, in my humble opinion.

It sounds like your hormones are confused in some way. This is one of the joys of being a woman. Since you do have the mirena you should call the doctor.

I'd bet money that it's because of the Mirena, I definitely had more side effects as time went on. And I definitely had some pregnant-seeming tender breasts after getting the IUD placed (I remember for the first few months being nervous that the Mirena would fail, so those tender breasts had me worrying about pregnancy). I know some people just love the Mirena, but I had it in for a year and a half and I gained 20 lbs and had a decrease in sex-drive. It just didn't seem worth it for the price of messing up my hormones...

My breasts have also been sore for the past few days, and I know I am definately not pregnant. What concerns me so much about your post is that you said you haven't had sex in 10 months!!! I then checked out your profile to see if you are married, and indeed you are. What I want to know is, how is living with no sex acceptable to your husband????? 10 whole months with no sex, really?? A lot of the time, hormonal birth control takes away a woman's sex drive (like it did with me). Is that what happened to you? If that is the case, get your mirena removed immediately!! I am so curious what your husband has to say about his abstinant life as a married man. If I didn't give my husband sex for 10 months (without a damn good reason), he would cheat on me. I am so baffled by this. My advice to you - get off the mirena, get your sex drive back and GIVE YOUR HUSBAND SEX!
