I too never get my period. I usually get it every 5-6 months. This has been true since I started my period at 12 yr old. When I was 16 they started me on the pill to control the periods. When my husband and I got married I continued on the pill for 2 yrs. Than I stopped because the doctor want to see the pattern of my periods. We used other protection for another 2 yrs till we decided we were ready for a baby. The doctor told me to try to have a baby on my own and if it did not happen we could try IVF. We tried and did not think of anything. I started to get VERY tired all the time, my boobs started to get sore, nipples were very sensitive. I did not know what was going on but did not think I was pregnant. One day 4 months after these things started I felt sick one day. We took a pregnancy test and it came out positive. I went to the dr and they said I was 16.5 wks pregnant. The feeling started almost right away with my breast being tender.
When I got pregnant the 2nd time the same things started happening but this time I found out right away because I was sick from almost day 1.

What I am telling you is that you can look for the tender nipples/ breast. Take a test the ones that say know up to 5 days before miss period.

Good luck, I hope you don't need to do IVF again. My sister had IVF and went in to have it a second time the dr examined her and told her she did not need IVF she was pregnant.

so i know what you mean about the pregnancy signs being unclear - with all those hormones during IVF, at the very beginning it was hard to tell if "signs" were pregnancy or just the drugs.
but from all the moms i've talked to, signs of every pregnancy are different for everyone. And even with the same person, each pregnancy can be different. so its hard to say.

The blood testing might be your only way to tell for sure. I've known people who never had a positive on the home tests, even when they were pregnant - the blood test is much more accurate.
but i know how hard it is to wait for that blood test! during my 3 years of trying to get pregnant, i took my share of home tests! i understand the disappointment of negative after negative and not wanting to take one - it's a rollercoaster!

As far as what's "too soon" - i know that home tests CAN be positive even 9 or 10 days after ovulation... but your situation is a little harder to figure that out if you haven't been having a period and haven't been using ovulation kits. Plus, like i said, they're not always as accurate! (check out www.peeonastick.com for information on which ones are most sensetive)

Not a silly question at all! When I suspected that I was pregnant, I literally took every quiz I could find online before finally caving and buying a home test! I felt the same- didn't want to see the "negative" sign.

Symptoms are different for every woman. I was tired, craved candy (not a "sweets person") for the first two weeks, and my chest was so sore that if someone bumped into me it hurt, but no morning sickness. My best friend was so sick at week 2 that she had to reduce her work schedule for the first trimester, but nothing else. You never know!

The home tests are quite accurate now and my doctor told me that they essentially purchase mass quantities of the same tests and use them at the office. This wasn't the case 10 years ago when the home test results could vary.

I would buy the test (get a 2-pack and do them both just in case). Remember to do them first thing in the morning b/c the urine is more concentrated. You could get a "false negative", but a "false positive" is highly unlikely!

go to the drugstore and get apregnancy test so that you don't have to wait til next week. then you'll get the blood test anyway just to make sure

The question is, do you want to hear whether you are pregnant or not from the person who does your blood test or do you want to find out yourself? For me, pregnancy symptoms were similar to pms symptoms (and usually wound up being pms). I also had an irregular cycle and have taken lots of p-tests over the years. It won't hurt you to wait until next week, but if you plan on having some holiday cocktails, I would do the test now. Better to be safe than sorry. First off you should not be embarrassed. I have been pregnant 2 times (boy and girl - 2 years 9 months apart) and both pregnancies were completely different. I did not have IVF with either and with my son I did spot, did not cramp, and I had a sore chest, I also gained tons of weight (68 lbs) and enjoyed eating. With my daughter I did not spot, did cramp, never had a sore chest, only gained 30 lbs (which I know is above average, but compared to my first pregnancy so much less) and had morning sickness for about 5 months. So as you can see even without the added hormones my pregnancies were extremely different. You may want to get a home pregnancy test to see, but if you are like me, I get no results with urine pregnancy tests and just have to wait for the blood tests. I also conceived my daughter through IVF and within a few days my breasts were sore, i was running warm (your body temperature increases in the beginning of pregnancy) and i was exhausted. I would say to definitely take another test....sounds like you may be! Good luck. All the best to you!

I think that cramping and spotting can happen in early pregnancy during implantation. I read somewhere that if you get spotting or really short light bleeding when your period is due it is possible you may be pregnant. If it's a real period it will get heavier, I think, if that is what is typical for you. Maybe give it another day or two and try a test.

O.k. typically conception happens 10-14 days before your period. So I would say take a test about 14 days after you think you may have conceived or had sex. A good sign of pregnancy is sore breasts. Mine were so sore both times that I would have knocked someone out if they touched me.

It is not a silly question!! I am chronically worried about not knowing that I am pregnant (have you ever seen that show I didn't know I was pregnant--it is my worst fear!!)
However through my neurosis I have learned a thing or two. The pregnancy tests, even the good early ones, normally only come back positive after you miss your period, which can be 7-14 days after the egg implants. Before the egg implants your body doesn't even know it is pregnant.
I have found that spotting alone is not enough reason to suspect pregnancy. My hormones are all screwy from being 4 months postpartum from my second pregnancy and having an IUD put in, and while I spotted all last week and felt crazy hormonal, no pregnancy. I was even at my doctor's last week to check the placement of the Mirena and she did an ultrasound, so I feel confident that it is just hormones that made me spot.
I say don't stress, you are going to have bloodwork done next week, you will know then. I know it is frustrating to have to wait, but we don't have any other options this early on. Last year when I got pregnant with my second son I literally took 3 negative tests before my body had enough HGC to turn the test positive.
