I had a friend who would put a womans maxi pad in her sons diaper, across his belly when he went to bed. It would soak up the leaks.
My son's diaper has been leaking every night for over a week: I switched to the 'overnight' 'extra protection' diapers... They are too loose and he still ends up soaking his shirt nightly! I've been using the overnight diaper AND a regular diaper on top of that, but that seems ridiculous...I don't think moving up a size will help (he's so skinny!!) Does anyone have any other suggestions? I am so tired of washing sheets/blankets AND stuffed animals!
- He is 2 years old - I change him right before he goes to bed and sometimes if he wakes up in the middle of the night! -

GoodNights has also started making a training pad for the bed that you peel right off when it's wet. You could put one down under your son and just peel it off and replace after he leaks. SO much better than washing sheets all the time.
I know there are also diaper inserts you can add to help with nighttime. I want to say they're called something like diaper doublers?
I wouldn't limit the liquids of a 2 year old.
Make sure his willy faves south.
I've heard if people adding a maxi pad, a cloth diaper IN the diaper, using diaper doublers (google them), and putting the diaper on backwards.
Try different brands.
Huggies Overnights worked best for us.
Layer sheet/waterproof pad/sheet/waterproof pad, etc. move his animals away once he's asleep. In other words, do what you can to make the changes easier.
Also, do you have your Diaper Ninja Certification? Lol I used to be able to change a diaper midway through the night while he slept!
Try a different brand. For us, Huggies leaked Every.Single.Time but Pampers didn't.
Until you figure it out, take out the stuffed animals, blankets and try layering up the sheets. We did fitted sheet-mattress pad (waterproof)-fitted sheet. That way you can (kind of) go every-other-day if needed between washes!
I had a skinny minnie and leaking always meant it was time to go up a size. The smaller size always still fit but the bigger size held more. Also, Huggies were horrible. The premium Pampers type was the best.
Somebody should be suggesting to limit his liquids after 6PM! This will go a long way in the leaking through a diaper.
Also, find the right size diaper, too big OR too small, and they will leak.
Alos, do a waterproof mattress protector, a sheet, then another layer of that, so at least you only have to peel off the top layer the first time. It will allow you to at least go every other night on sheet changes til you figure this out.
Buy some Gerber plastic pants to put over his diaper. You can buy them online thru Amazon.
i had the same problem with my son-i put a hospital pad in his diaper-(kotex) right up in front..worked like a charm...
Did you try putting the regular diaper on and THEN the overnight one?
I just usually moved up a size when this happened.
I think (and it's a long time ago now so forgive me if I'm remembering incorrectly) that the Pampers overnights or "Good Nights" were SO much better than the Huggies. The diaper would hold so much pee it must have weighed 5lbs sometimes. My husband would just leave in on too in the morning bc it wasn't actually leaking. Grrr. But try a few different types/brands as I found there was a big difference.
Change the diaper before you go to bed. I had to do that for a while because no matter what my daughter soaked through. She never woke up n I did it right in her crib
HUGGIE's overnights, do the size up and cinch it to fit his waist. My son was the same way and we tried everything, all the brands....still using Huggies Overnights to this day :)
Doubling up diapers always worked for me. That's my only suggestion.
We used to change diapers again, at around 10:30 or eleven, whenever we were going to bed. I would keep the light low and the child would sleep through the change, or if he woke up, I'd talk to him soothingly, tell him what I'm doing, and after it was done, rub his head (he liked that) and he'd fall back asleep. So much easier than changing the sheets! We also used the next size up diapers, but our kids were not skinny minis.
