Son Constantly Thirsty and Wetting Thru Diapers

My son just turned 2 the end of January. He has been on a sippy cup for the past year and within the last 3-4 months I started noticing an increase in him wanting more to drink. Within the lat 6 weeks I completely weaned him off juice and now all he drinks is water. I thought once I got him off the juice he would decrease his fluid intake. But lately it seems he is constantly drinking. He wakes up soaked ATLEAST 3 times a week and I feel like I am changing him constantly through out the day. His teachers mentioned it today that they had to change him 3 times in less than 3 hours because he was filling his diapers. I work at his school so I know they are not stretching the truth. He does it to me all the time. I just changed him and now 10 minutes later I ccould change him again. Other than this issue he is a completely healthy, happy child. He has been eating a ton of food as well. It's mostly yogurt, applesauce, bananas, not salty things so I'm really not sure if this may be something serious of just a growth spurt kind of thing. He does have a well visit appt the middle of March but was wondering if I should call and make it sooner?

What can I do next?

the biggie that comes to mind is diabetes. chances are it's "nothing", but i'd really cut down the sugar intake(most yogurts have more sugar per serving than ice cream!). fruit is high in sugars as well. has he lost or gained a significant amount of weight lately? if you can get him in sooner, run him in, they'll probably just check his urine for glucose, tell you all is well, and you'll rest easier! good luck!

When my daughter was younger she had the same issue. Friends of mine who would watch her for a few hours were amazed by how full her diaper would get (it would actually sag between her legs from the weight), and how often they needed to change her. We checked with the doctor because we were concerned, too. It turned out to be nothing, and now she's a perfectly healthy 10 year old. You should check with your doctor to be sure, but I wouldn't be overly concerned.

Hi!

Has he lost any weight?

Today I was talking to the pediatrician about something similar and she said that wetting/drinking too much by itself it should not be a cause of concern...

I agree with the previous poster, diabetes comes to mind, but don't freak out. No one on here can make a diagnosis! :)
Call the pediatrician's office and speak to the nurse. Tell her your concerns and ask whether it is something that can wait until the well-child visit, or if they want to see him sooner. Good luck.

I would take him to see the pedi as soon as you can.
