I just saw this beautiful act of sportsmanship and then, I had to watch it again.

A high school athelete stops competing to help out her fallen competitor....
I'll include the link in the SWH.

Just had to share because it made my day.:)

And the obligatory question is:

Do you have a story of bravery, kindness or compassion to share, old or new, that struck you as a real display of personal integrity and 'going beyond'?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Here's the link-- made me tear up. What an awesome moment.

It's so nice to see kids and teenagers do the right thing without being prompted.

I am involved in a ministry that puts on an Easter musical every year, and on Good Friday we always have a special service for our cast and crew before our final performance of the season. This year part of the service included a few moments of adoration of the cross about 5 or 6 steps up the stage. It was a very emotional moment for a lot of us, and some people went up on stage to kneel before the cross. Our oldest cast member (who is 86) walked up to the front of the stage. She's not so easy on her feet anymore, and never climbs the stairs to get up on the stage, even during performances, but as she started to sit down on the steps in front of the cross, two 13 year old girls in our cast got out of their seats, took her by the arms, and led her up the steps. The rest of us sat there in silence as she was able to touch the cross for the first time in years! No one told them to do it, they just knew. We were ALL so proud of them, but no one as much as those two girls' fathers, who both sat there crying! They raised good kids!

That happens more than you think. Just in my daughter's world I have seen it happen a few times. Interestingly, or maybe just to me, it is always in the upper levels. Ya know, high school and college. Could be maturity, could be at that point they love the sport and playing it more than winning at all costs.

Here is one - boy trades up for a trip to disney and gives it to a fallen soldier's family then disney/abc offer him a VIP trip and he declines the offer and asks if he can give that one away too.
