My baby is 3 months old and he snores a lot when he sleeps and breathes weird from time to time- sometimes it sounds like he has a lot of mucus (but it isnt there) I know this is common when they are only a few weeks old but is it still normal when they are a bit older?

What can I do next?

I assume you have not yet googled "snoring in children"?

Turns out there's all the info you need at the Nat'l Sleep Foundation site.

My son was a horrible snorer from birth on. When he was 8 months old, we took him in to the doctor, as we could hear him through the walls and closed doors! It was crazy. At 9 months old, we had his adenoids removed and he was much more comfortable and didn't have the dark circles under his eyes. He is now 4 yrs. old and he still snores a little, but it's more "normal". You may want to get his adenoids checked if it continues as he gets older. I'm not advocating unnecessary surgery, but it did work for my little man.

since he's only 3 months old, i would put a cool mist humidifier in his room and elevate the mattress just a little bit. take everything out of the crib (if you have stuff in there) and make sure the room is very clean. Also, does it seem that he snores more in his room and not other places? snores less when in a carseat or snores more when you've had a busy day with him? start to keep track of that stuff cause you might start to see patterns like environmental, etc. if that makes sense.

Our youngest also had this issue and had his adenoids removed at 1 year old but you certainly can't do that now because of his age. def talk to your ped about it though and when he gets older have his adenoids and tonsils checked by an ENT
