Hi, I had my third child a year ago. I gained a lot of weight I went from 130lbs to 215 even though I was eating healthy. I had Gestational D. I am eating healthy and working out but I feel my stomach is not going anywhere. I have been researching on tummy tuck and came across this procedure known as smartlipo . There are claims that there is no pain but after calling a doctor's office I spoke to the receptionist who told me that you feel some pain she has heard patients screaming. The procedure last for about 2 1/2 hours and you are given local anesthesia. I also saw a few people commented about the pain during the procedure. That the pain is really bad. Does anyone know about this. I don't want to go through the traditional surgery. I am desperate to loose this stomach. It is bothering me a lot. Does anyone have any input on this. Thanking you in advance for your feedback.

What can I do next?

Is this a tummy tuck with only local anesthesia? That sounds nuts. Why do you want to do that? If you want a tummy tuck, you will want general anesthesia. A tummy tuck is pretty major, you don't want to be awake for it. Don't worry, you won't die while you're under.

While a tummy tuck involves lipo, a tummy tuck and lipo are two different things. A tummy tuck involves excising (cutting off) loose skin and tightening muscles, lipo only involves sucking out fat.

I have no advice but feel your pain sister! I have been working out really hard for the past year and my stomach won't GO AWAY! I do the Jillian Michaels videos religiously and no luck. I wish I could get a tummy tuck also, but hear they are about $10,000. Not sure the husband would view that as a priority right now. :)

Anyway, good luck. It's great you're doing your research. The most important thing is your health, so don't do anything crazy. :)

The hormone CORTISOL will affect weight levels, especially around the stomach. People with low cortisol will typically have anorexia, low weight levels, cant keep weight on, failure the thrive as infants, etc..... people with high cortisol levels will gain weight even though they are not overeating. In high cortisol, much fat accumulation will be seen in the stomach and sometimes a buffalo hump on the upper back will be seen, but not always. Diabetes is seen in high cortisol. lookup Cushing's syndrome and also Conn's syndrome.

You can check your cortisol level with a saliva cortisol test. Canaryclub.org has it if your doctor wont order the test for you....and most wont because they dont understand how to decipher it..unless they are an endocrinologist.

The problem with lipo is that the fat will come back. it is a temporary fix.
Hormone control, and of course food intake, is the key to weight control

Hi S., you might want to consider a hydrotherapy colon cleanse. (Water is used to flush the bowels of waste) It is amazing how much waste accumulates in the stomach area that makes that area bulge. I started a cleanse at the end of january and I've lost 15 pounds and a lot of inches from my waist. You could be very bloated which contributes to the extra weight around the waist. I see you're in new york, so please check out The Natural Alternative Center its in the city on west 72nd, the website is www.thenac.net. I've had amazing results and I think its really worth looking into before you take such an extreme measure as plastic surgery even if the claim is minimally invasive. Pm me if you want more details. All the best to you.

Hi, S.!

I think that if you ask 10 different patients, you will get 10 different answers about how much pain in felt in this procedure, since pain is a matter of perception. Everything I have read/seen about the procedure says it's FAR less painful than normal lipo or a tummy tuck operation -- but I've not had it done....YET!

I saw a segment on Dr Oz that you might be able to find on the Internet somewhere (I am pretty sure it was there anyway) and here is someone answering questions about the procedure here http://www.doctoroz.com/question?query=smartlipo

I know I really didn't answer your question, but I hope I have lead you to a place that can help you!
