So I dont know how to explain this because it is an odd feeling. I work in front of a computer which may be the problem but anyways, every so often I get that extremely tired / dizzy feeling. It lasts for about 10 min. then goes away. I know what you are going to say, see a doc. But thats the thing I have talked to him about it and he either says dehydration or lack of sleep. Well I gave up pop and now I drink G2 gatorade + lots of water and I make sure that I am getting a good sleep. Ok so its the best sleep I can get without waking up through the night. Doc has done tests and it doesn't seem anything is wrong. So my question is do you have any idea what could be causing this? Even if you knew a simple remedy would be nice. I hate the feeling!

TIA

What can I do next?

When I spend too much time focusing on a screen (TV, computer, iphone) I get sleepy and dizzy when I stand up. I think's got to do with your eyes re-focusing, messages to the brain, etc. It's a good idea to change your point of vision frequently (look away from the screen in to the distance, down the hall, out the window) get up and walk around at least once every 90minutes or more, etc.

My boys are gamers. When I take them yearly to the eye doc, he strongly suggests looking away from the computer for a few minutes, minimally every 20 minutes.

That means, in the length of time it took you to write this post and dozens like it, you could've helped yourself feel better by looking away from the screen.

And us too!

Did he run a blood test on you?
Just before I was diagnosed with hyperthyroid, I had bouts of dizziness, and I was irrationally sleeping at odd hours.

Have you had your vision checked lately? Also, did your doctor do a diabetes test?

Get your eyes checked.

Are you having snacks occasionally throughout the day? Like a protein bar, a fruit salad, a yogurt smoothie, an extra turkey sandwich that you can eat triangles of throughout the day? Your blood sugar could be low and needing a boost. You don't want to try to boost it with something sugary.

Have you ever had migraines? Consider seeing a neurologist.

Are you taking any medication? Prescription or Over The Counter meds? Some medicines can have those side effects, even ones that you don't think would, some have a rare side effect of these symptoms. Have you checked your blood sugar? Too high, or too low can cause these symptoms too. If you are iron deficient (anemic), that can also cause you to feel tired. You could be Vitamin B12 deficient also, and that is also known as anemia. The vitamin B12 helps with the energy. If you have checked all of these, then get some berries. They are a good antioxident and energy source and could really help perk you up. If you haven't checked this, then get a full blood work check up done to test for diabetes, anemia, etc. Other than that, I don't have any other suggestions. I hope you find some answers. My one other suggestion is to get a second opinion from another doctor. Sometimes other doctors see what one hasn't. So that may be something you can consider. Get well soon. :-)

Next time it happens check your blood pressure.. a sudden drop in blood pressure could do that. And if it is random, you would not necessarily catch it on a doctor visit.

If you do not have a cuff, you can generally pick one up at your local pharmacy.

Good luck!
