Pregnant and Light-headed

I'm almost 14 weeks pregnant and for the past couple of days, I've been really light-headed. Today I thought it was because I had eaten some cookies on an empty stomach like an hour earlier and it was probably blood-sugar related. But I'm still feeling dizzy after a grilled cheese and cup of soup. One thing I wonder about is that I had glucose intolerance with my last pregnancy (which is to say, I wasn't processing glucose as well as I should, but it wasn't quite gestational diabetes). I wonder if I've got something similar this time around and the symptoms are showing up earlier. Has anybody with GD experienced this? Or could it be blood pressure related? I've got a midwife appointment in a couple of days and will ask about it then. I'm also taking a prenatal vitamin with iron.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Just to update, it went away on its own. Midwife said it's just typical early pregnancy stuff. Phew!

I've found that if I allow my blood sugar to get out of whack (eat sweets without any protein) it can take me all day to recover.

Other thing is probably low iron.

I had this issue with my third, I was low on iron, not drastically low but enough to make me feel a little out of it. I would just mention it at your apt and go from there.

How much water are you drinking? It could be low blood pressure due to dehydration. You body needs a lot of water right now. Drink 8-10 glasses/ day and see if that helps!

it could be blood pressure or anemia. Low iron levels are common in pregnancy resulting in light haededness. I gad gestational diabetes (and am hypoglycemic) and was also anemic and got the light headed dizzy feeling quite often during my first pregnancy.

I was dizzy with all my pregnancies, but never had gd or hbp. I would say its normal, but it wont hurt to ask because of your previous conditions.

I had this issue with both of my pregnancies and the cause was low iron both times. Something to ask the midwife about as it is simple to control with a supplement

It's blood pressure shifting. I had it with both pregnancies. Totally normal.

Your body has to produce more blood right now that can lead to moments of deprivation. Get iron from natural sources to help

How was your glucose test when they did the OB labs?If it wasn't taken ask for it to be done to be certain it isn't blood suagr related. But I will tell you that going without eating will do worse than eating a tiny something that puts your sugar levels up/down regardless if your a diabetic or have developed GD.It has to be at a steady pace.If you have a normal pregnancy no issues then it is probably the hormones & extra blood that is pumping through your body,if you lie flat on your back, quickly getting up will cause light headedness,so will going without eating or drinking water,if you are swelling put your feet up drink water & monitor your blood pressure if it has been normal then I wouldn't worry but still remember to make sure to ask about it.But always ask your midwife to be sure,& if she was your midwife with your previous pregnancy she will monitor you more closely.

I got like that a few times with both my pregnancies. Im 31 weeks now with #2 and early on I was dizzy on and off but it went away on its own. I figured it was from my eyes changing. I lost my good vision with my pregnancies. If it didnt go away from drinking a glass of OJ to help stabalize my sugar level I just assumed it was my eyes adjusting to the pregnancy because I didnt have an issue with my glucose levels with either pregnancies and the doctors never commented on my Blood Pressure
Good Luck and just bring it up with the doctor at your next visit
Congrats on the baby
