Hello, I have a 2 yr. old daughter that wakes up all times of the night and will only go back to sleep unless I let her in my bed or give her a sipper cup to sleep with. I would let her cry herself back to sleep ,however, she shares a room w/ her 7 year old sister who has to go to school in the morning.

What can I do next?

It's because you started a habit of letting her sleep in your bed. She knows that and wants to sleep with you. I would put her back in her bed everytime she gets up. Give her a sippy cup, put her in her bed and kiss her good night again. Be consitent, do it everytime no matter how tired you are, don't give in once or you will have to start all over again. Good luck!!

If the sippy cup works, go with that. Just try to give her only water in it at night or you could have major dental issues later on.

My opinion is that she is trying to take control of you. A sippy cup with water is ok. I would maybe sneak in her room and put it by her bed or in her crib so when she wakes up she sees it and can have it. But if she truly wants you, it's a control thing. She's old enough to sleep completely through the night on her own. It may be rough for three or four nights, but I would make sure she has her drink, then lay her down and tell her night night and exit quickly and do that every time. That way you know she's not thirsty, and she'll know you aren't playing around. Best of luck, Jen

nothing wrong with a sippy of water! If that works, go for it! Sometimes my son wakes and I have to rock him for 5 minutes put him back down and tell him I will make the light brighter for him. I open his bathroom door to let me light in and he goes back to sleep. Good luck, you definately need the sleep!

hello ! i had the same problem myself. i decided to take control by tring to understand my childs needs. fact, he wanted and needed me beside him. so i would put him to bed. in his bed. i would stay until he was asleep, then i would go into action. using a large rectanglar pillow i would dress it up in my previous nights PJ's and tuck it in tight with him. then i made a recording of myself humming his nightly song, and press play. his needs were met and i was fast asleep.good luck
