Hi Moms,
Does anyone have any reccomentsations for a pull out couch that is actually affordable and comfortable? With only two bedrooms and expecting our third child in a couple of months our only alternative seems to be to give up our bedroom. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

From my experience a futon is way more comfortable than the pull out sofa beds.

We had a Lane sleeper sofa that was extremely comfortable.. I would suggest you check Craigslist for a really good quality one, for a really good price..

When my grandma moved from her home to an assisted living center, she bought a brand new sofa sleeper. I would visit her every few weeks on a Fri or Sat night. It was ok to sleep on for the first 2-3 months but after that, it was causing back aches in the morning after I woke from trying to sleep on it. Besides that, have you ever tried to move one? They're extremely heavy whether you move it around in your home/apartment or are actually moving it. My old room mate had one and her friends that she had help move her, told her next time not to call them if she still had that set. I'd go with the futon too and it's a lot easier to fold back up when not in use when company is coming. Sleepers will sometimes get stuck, at least in my experience and they're more hastle then they're worth.

I am confused... first. To Whom are you "giving up" your bedroom? To guests that visit? (air mattresses work well for them). For your children? Really? Kids can and do share rooms. Even, mixed siblings (i.e. a brother and a sister). Bunk beds work well in all sized rooms. My friend had three of her kids in one room for years. They had a three stack bunkbed set. Kids only notice if WE point things out. Typically, they are much more flexible than they are given credit for. My kids each have their own room, but choose to stay in the same room together... and that's been happening for the last 4.5 years.

We have a sleeper sofa, and growing up a sleeper sofa was my bed (by choice)... They are more comfortable when you are lighter weight. I'll agree though, if you really do *need* something, I'd look at a futon. Good luck!
