I would just like to know if there are any other toddlers out there that still do not sleep through the night. Maybe they can all get together with my son when he's up at 1230,230,330,530AM!! I'm aging at a super fast rate due to lack of sleep! When I don't work, i MUST take a nap when he naps so i can survive the day. Therefore, we are ALWAYS up & asleep together. I don't believe in letting him "cry it out". I was so desperate once that i gave in and tried it for a week but it didn't help any. We got LESS sleep. I would just like to hear other mom's stories just so I know I'm not the only one in this situation.........or am I?

What can I do next?

Hi T. - You didn't mention nap times. If he is taking a nap either eliminate it or make it less than an hour. I don't like the children in bed with us for safety reasons <my husband is a HEAVY man and even heavier sleeper>, so we put a children’s bed in our room for a short time, until they were used to it and then moved it into their own rooms. ALSO, put a pillowcase or small blanket on you for the day – it will ‘smell’ like YOU and I found my little ones have always slept better with it, a clean case and they are UP over and over ALL NIGHT. If nothing works – hire a ‘night sitter’<I know a few single/widowed ladies from church think it is great to help, and a few might not even charge just for the ‘fun’ of it>, for a few nights until you are feeling better and can handle the situation in a ‘better’ temperament/mood. GOOD LUCK.

The No Cry Sleep Solution by Elizabeth Pantley is a great resource. It helped us.

You are not the only one! My daughter is 21 months old and enjoys taking naps during the day but would avoid sleep at night altogether if she could. I haven't been able to do the "cry it out" method. I'm a bit of a whimp. The thought of hearing her sooo upset is too much. But.. it can't go on like this. I'm drained. My husband and I are hoping we can find a solution soon! She just started this about 3 or more months ago. I was too quick to brag to friends how she slept through the night at 6 weeks and was my perfect little angel. Now she is a screaming maniac at night. (Although she is still our little angel)She hates her crib! Of course she will go back to sleep eventually... but it has to be in mommy and daddy's bed! Have you received any helpful suggestions? If so, please share! Thanks.

I'm with you T. ... mine is up all the time, too. He hasn't slept in his crib since August and was sleeping in bed with us. Even there, he'd wake up! For our New Year's resolution, I bought a kid's size aerobed. I put it right next to my side of the bed. When he wakes up, I just get right in bed with him. I usually have to lie there for 2-5 minutes and he's right back asleep. I couldn't do "cry it out" either ... he totally makes himself throw up. And before he did that, he could literally cry for hours and hours on end. Maybe by the time they're ... 10? we'll get a full-night's sleep? :)

I also gave up and let our 15-month old son sleep in bed with us. The let him cry it out didn't work, he just got more and more worked up, and it was just easier to take him in bed and get some sleep. He even sleeps in our bed for naps. And I have to lay with him for him to go to sleep. So sorry, not much help but you're definitely not alone.
