Skin Problems - Please Advise

My skin has been extremely dry and peeling/flaking for months now. I have tried moisture masks and every moisturizer known to man and instead of fixing the problem, I have created a new one on top of it - acne (at age 35)!

Has anyone had this problem? Can you recomend a product? Should I see a dermatologist and if so, any referrals near Plano?

Thanks, Mamas!

What can I do next?

I have the same problems plus brittle hair, smelly, greasy scalp and skin! It started after soon after I gave birth to my daughter who is now 17mo. and has been getting worse.
My Dr. put me on thyroid meds. It's been 4months now and no change.
I'am also now seeing a dermatologist. He thinks it is sebboric (sp?) dermatitis.
Good luck!

Have you ever tried Arbonne? It is a botanically based skin care that has a nanosphere technology that helps your skin to produce what it needs.

Adrienne,
Besides being a mom I am also an esthetician for the past 20 years. How long has it been sence you had any children? If it is not hormonal (from pregnancy) than it may be that you are in need of some professional exfoliation like a peel or microdermabrasion to the remove the build up of dead skin cells if you just try to moisturize on top of the dead skin you will not solve the problem no need to see a Dr just an esthetician... Hope that this it helpfull. A.

Adrienne,
I have had similar problems and can relate with exactly what you are describing. I too had the same thing happen to me and tried every product imaginable. I was introduced to Arbonne about a year ago and haven't used anything else since. I would be happy to provide you with some samples to try and explain why it is better than any other product out there. Basically it is botanically based (meaning it is all natural) and balances your skin so you don't have patches of dry and then oily areas. Please contact me, I will be happy to explain in greater detail the benefits and like I mentioned get you a sample. ###-###-#### cell or email ____@____.com

Hi Adrienne,

I would recommend you try "Cetaphil" moisturizing creme. Make sure its the creme in the tub, not the lotion. The lotion is not as thick. I had very dry flaky skin and my dermatologist recommended I use it. It is non-comedogenic, so it won't clog your pores and won't cause pimples. You can use it on your face and everywhere else. It even works wonders on callouses. It costs about $12 per tub, but it is soo worth it. You can find it at most grocery stores and drug stores. You can also get it at Costco. There are store brands that claim to be the same, but they AREN'T. Good Luck!

You really need to get this taken care of, I know its annoying but dryness can cause premature lines! You need a heavy moisturizer. Any hormonal change can cause a change in a persons skin type! If you come in my office I can take a look and see what I can do. My website www.beautymarkboutique.com Hope to hear from you, L.

Hi there! My cousin is a dermatologist and I can assure you that you would really be wasting your money on any product bought at a department store (i.e. lancome, creme de la mer, etc..) There is a new product line out there that he raves about called Remergent Skin care. I believe the product he raves about is the barrier repair....it's not exactly cheap BUT is a derm. product usually sold through physicians or on the website (remergentskin.com). It is also a great product anyhow for aging skin. Other than that, I would also use a really sensitive skin cleanser like cetaphil as well. Hope this helps!

you need to exfoliate every day. get a face scrub with rough granules in it. if you can afford it, go to the one of the neimans makeup counters and ask to make an appt for a facial. it's free because they want to sell to you. lancome, laura mercier and chanel are cheaper brands. ask questions and they can help you with your specific questions. don't feel forced to buy a bunch of stuff. just buy one thing if they offer something you like. as you're getting older, your face is changing. good luck.
