Maggie,

I totally feel your pain! There a few things that I rotate through out the fall and winter months when my son's and my eczema is out of control.

*Gentle Naturals make a great body wash and lotion that we both use.

*Aveeno makes a whole infant line that is creamy and fantastic for treating dry skin. I use their creamy infant wash for me and my son year round and it's amazing.

*California Baby also has some really great products.

Here's the thing for my son and I, after visiting dermatologists we were told that cortizone only helps for when it's flaring up and at it's worst. Maintenence is key. Find a good routine that works. Make sure when you are bathing her to use something with oats that is non-drying and don't scrub the affected areas. Apply whatever lotion you choose immediately after bath is over.

It tooks me a few weeks to find something that worked for us consistently, but I can't use products made by Eucerin because they are very heavy and too much so for my skin as they did cause breakouts in other areas.

Unfortunately, there is no cure for it. And, I've lived with it my whole life. Also some suggest eliminating dairy products and adjusting diets to help minimize flare ups. If you can get into a dermatologist I would do it.

Good Luck!

My two year old son also has eczema with recurring patches over much of his body. Knees and elbows are typically among the worst in eczema patients, so it is not really a surprise that your daughter's keeps coming back.

One thing to try is coating her elbows with lotion after her bath to lock in the moisture. We use either Aquaphor (which is kind of like vaseline) or Ceravae (a lotion that is sometimes hard to find but is sold at Walgreen's). Put it on when she's still damp from her bath and it should help keep her skin moist and avoid irritation.

We also have prescription steroid creams that we use when his skin is really bad. You could see a dermatologist if you want to try that. Hopefully the aquaphor/lotion will work instead.

Xango is a great product to use for eczema! It's a juice - just 2-4 oz a day, gets into the 'system' and will help from reoccurring. They also have developed a topical skin care system. Send me your email and I'll send you a link to my site where you can get more information! - Also - these products are all natural! No chemicals in them that can make your condition worst.
