I used Aveeno Baby on my son because he has had since he was born. Works wonderfully. A little higher than normal baby washs and shampoos but worth the money.
My 4 month-old little boy has really bad eczema (or at least I think that's what it is). It's a red rash (blanches) on his armpits, elbows, feet, and now spreading to stomach a bit. He doesn't have a fever, eating/sleeping well, and is great otherwise. Any ideas for treatment? Thanks!

My so Caleb has eczema. He is 16 now and has had it ever since he was a baby. We have tried utter cream, blah, blah, blah...you name it. The one thing that ALWAYAS works for us is Mary Kay night cream. I don't know why, but it works! You don't need much. My son would go to his dad's for two weeks, come home with dry, cracked and bleeding spots on his skin and I would put alittle children's hydro-cortozone cream on it (to help with iritation) and then the night cream. There was a noticable difference in the morning and w/i 2 to 3 days - all better!
Ask your doctor about Acid Mantle. This worked WONDERS for my daughter when she was an infant. It cleared it up in a few days when nothing else I tried worked. She is now 18 months, and I use it occasionally on a maintenance basis.
Good luck.
A.,
My son who is now one has it extremely bad as well. My dr's recommended using all the dye free and fragrance free products for laundry; Aveeno for soap; and then putting Aquaphor all over his arms, legs, back and belly. Oh and face.
He was the same way kept getting all these rashes. It just kept spreadiing and getting worse. But once I changed laundry detergent & soap & putting the aquaphor on it made a huge difference. The only time he gets a rash now is if I start slacking on the aquaphor.
Good Luck,
L.
Try Eucerin creme. Or the generic brand that is usually right beside it. I have used it on my arms and leggs for a long time. Seems to help and it does not burn or sting. Has no purfume in it. Walmart carrys it. It comes in a tub and is very thick. Dr.s recommended it for my grandson also. Sheri
Eczema can be red, very dry where the skin can crack & or bleed, it also can be very itchy. I use a product by Mary Kay called extra emollient. I discovered it was very good for it & it does give him relief...however my son is now twelve & has used it for two years. I am also a consultant & IF you don't have one that you can have send you out a sample tube, I'd be very glad to do that for you. I hope this has been a little helpful, have a great day & God Bless!
Our 3-1/2 year old son also has had problems with Eczema since he was very small. We tried EVERYTHING, including cortisone creams and 100% aloe vera, lowering bath water temps, limiting soap-ups, etc. with little success until I tried 100% Pure Refined Emu Oil. It's not greasy - absorbs almost immediately and it takes care of it very quickly, usually within two days even a bad case is gone. I've tried a few different brands and feel that Purple Emu brand is the best. May be found in the larger grocery stores in their pharmacy or natural products areas and in some stand-alone pharmacies as well. I think it can also be ordered through local distributors or directly through their website online, too. Google 'Purple Emu' - it really works. Jen
Hi A.,
My daughter has it also. I have a couple of products that really worked for me. I used my Aveda brand hydrating lotion (my own facial skin care) because it was all natural (which the baby stuff isn't really). She had it on her cheeks and what I figured out is that before it looks bad, you can feel it starting to feel rough, but it doesn't look like it. So, it became my routine to put that on her after every bath. It's almost never an issue.
Now, she is 5 and I still use that on her. However, as she got older, she started getting spots of it here and there on her body. So, now I am using Melaluca brand products - WONDERFUL stuff. I use the soap on her and the Renew lotion on her body - it's incredible. I discovered it because my mom started representing it so she could buy it herself. I was a sceptic, but my husband has really dry skin as well and it's just amazing what this soap and lotion as done. The soap works so well at leaving moisture in his skin and healing it that we don't even hardly have to use the lotion on him that much.
If you interested and don't know someone to purchase it through - please send me an email at ____@____.com and I will send you the info for my mom.
I think it would really be worth your trouble! I also still wash my dauthers clothes, sheets, towels and washclothes in Dreft....
Hello A.,
My company has a product that has the PH balance of a baby's skin that has helped alot of kids with problems from eczema. It is alot cheaper than anything you can buy from a store and can be delivered right to your door every month or when needed if yu are interested send me a message and I will give you my number to get ahold of me. L.
A., i so feel your pain! my son had it badly almost from birth too. it seems like we never really did find a great remedy for it. we tried the cortizone creams, eucerin, well all the names escape me but i think for "true" eczema, at least in our case, all we could do was wait it out and try to plug along as best we could. he's 18 months now and it's better, but he still gets flare-ups when he gets sick or is teething, whenever his immune system is down. i do use aveeno baby on him at EVERY diaper change, and when he has a breakout i put a topical hydrocortizone on it to help it heal faster. i was told by one nurse that he'd "always" have to deal with it, and another that he'd "grow out of it", so i don't really have any answers except how my son did. it is much better these days, but we still have to watch him. i hope you find something that actually works! if not i hope that he starts to grow out of it like mine has. good luck!
PS, i think i saw someone mention on here, it's very important to make sure whatever you put on it is fragrance- and dye-free. (baby lotions are HORRIBLE) think about if you've ever had REALLY dry skin - lotions sting! and this is basically all over their bodies. that's why i like the aveeno because it's very mild but is still a very strong moisturizer. that's what you want to look for in whatever you use.
Try Melaleuca's Renew lotion. It is clinically proven to improve any skin condition. My brother in law had really bad eczema his whole life until he tried this lotion. He said he would pay $100 a bottle if he had to. Go to Melaleuca.com. Melaleuca's products all have natural ingredients, which is one of the reasons why they work so well. You won't be subjecting your baby's skin to harsh irritants or steroids. Also, I would advise you to never use Johnson & Johnson baby products, they are the worst for baby's skin.
I have a 3 yr old with Eczema, we use a VERY low steroid prescription cream during the cooler months. During the summer all it takes is a dip in the pool! A dermatologist recommended a drop of bleach in every bath, no more than a teaspoon in a full tub. I was never brave enough to pour bleach in my son's bath, but realized that the pool has the same effect! The day after a dip at the pool you wouldn't know that he has eczema!
My daughter has eczema really bad too. I switched where I was shopping and started shopping from a health and wellness company about 2 years ago since then she hasn't had anymore problems. Check the back of your labels to see what chemicals you are exposing your baby to. Don't be suprised if you find Quanterium 15, this is a formaldyhyde realeaser when wet. this is a chemical that they use to imbalm dead paople and linked to cancer. There are all sorts of articles about this and other products that contain Quanternium 15. You might think since this is a heath and wellness company that it is more expensive than shopping at Wal-mart it's not. You can contact me if you would like to get more info. It has really helped my daughter and the rest of our family.
Sincerely, F. ###-###-#### or ____@____.com
After months of dealing with this with PureLan, Aquafor, dipaer rash creams, lotions and potions, our Dr. just prescribed Locoid Lipocream. In one week our problem areas are almost completely normal!
Go to a doctor and get a professional opinion to make sure you know what you are dealing with. Four months is too young to just start any kind of treatment on until you know what you are treating for sure.
I use a combination of things for my 18-month-old that I've found through trial and error. For washing, Aveeno is best by far. I tried a LOT of things, including California Baby and Arbonne. As for creams, Gentle Naturals is best for her, followed by Aquaphor. After applying one of these to her "problem" spots--inside of wrists, elbows, jawline--we top it with the Arbonne baby oil all over.
My son (who is now 14 months) had it too when he was younger. My doctor told us to use Cortaid but very sparingly because it does have steroids in it. It works awesome! Good luck :)

Hi A.,
So sorry to hear about your little guy's discomfort...and your frustration with finding something to help! I would highly recommend Arbonne's baby care line...it's all natural with no fillers, chemicals or dyes, no animal products or by-products, no mineral oil....and the baby care line is both dermatologist and pediatrician tested! Arbonne is a health & wellness company that deals with natural produts. Another idea might be the Rejuvenating Cream or RE9 Body Lotion that Arbonne offers....I've received many success stories from clients who have dealt with this same issue and all of these products have worked wonders. You can receive a 35% to 80% discount and it comes with a 45 day money back guarantee so you have nothing to loose by trying it. If you would like more info, please contact me. I would be happy to send you a sample and more info. Best of luck to you!

One of my children has had eczema since he was about 6 mos old too. Nothing got rid of it until my doctor gave me a prescription that cleared it right up. It was Locoid Lipocream. They actually just gave me several trail sizes to start off with and see if it worked or not. For the past year, I've been using Aveeno Baby products. I use the Soothing Relief Creamy Wash followed by the Soothing Relief Moisture Cream. I liked this cream better than the other moisturizers the doctors gave me (Cetaphil didn't do anything and Aquaphor was so thick I couldn't get their clothes on afterwards) The Aveeno has helped tremendously. Now I just use the Lipocream if we have any specific patches. Hope this helps.
My daughter is now almost 8 months old but around 4 months I started noticing red patches on her body. Our doctor gave us a few prescriptions for when her eczema gets really beefy red but to try to keep it under control we try to keep her "greased" up ALL the time! BABY OIL!!! Oatmeal baths help too, Aveeno makes great products for eczema. We also use a lotion (recommended by dr. it is over the counter-found at Walgreens) called Sarna lotion.
Good luck!
I heard exposing your baby to the sun helps.
My child has had this problem since she was a baby also. Nothing seemed to work except prescriptions at first, but then they (doctors) started having problems with it i turned to aveeno bath and lotions. These products helped plus she doesn't complain of the burn or sting some products can cause. Good luck.
A.,
My son has really bad Eczema on his back. I asked several doctors and they all told me to use Aquaphor which you can purchase at any drug store or even Wal-Mart. It doesn't have a steroid so I use every time I change his diaper and after a bath. It works great and I'm not worried about other chemicals. The only down fall is it does feel a bit slick right when you put it on, but it absorbs okay after a couple min. Hope this was some help!
I am a consultant with a 28 year old health and wellness company that has a phenomenal baby care line. I have had several families use it with great results. If you are interested in the information I have regarding infant excema please contact me and I can forward the documents. There are two and they are short, easy reading. I also have FREE sample packs available if you'd like to send me your information (name, address, phone number, email, best time/way to reach you etc). I would be happy to mail one out. :) I have my home based business listed on mamasource with some reviews for the adult skincare products.
Many blessings!

Hi,
I would like to recommend a product that my company has called RENEW. Here is a testimonial.
Benefits my son with eczema
My son, who is currently six years old, has had eczema since he was born. He had it on both legs, arms and face. We tried everything. Our doctor prescribed cortisone cream and said to use it sparingly. Within a week of starting that we noticed a change in our son’s behavior. We called the pharmacy and asked them and they told us that too much of the cream can cause behavioral changes and that if we wanted to stop, we would have to slowly wean him off. I don't think we were using too much but it was over 80% of his body.
So we just went back to using regular cream on him every night after the bath. Well a year ago when I started with Melaleuca, I changed everything. Laundry soap, shampoo, body wash and creams. I don't know if I can contribute it too one thing but his eczema is mostly gone (except when it gets really dry outside).

I also recommend the 100% pure emu oil. It works wonderful & is all natural. I'm totally against the steroids, which don't work. I ordered my online & not only cleared it up, but it hasn't come back.
We use Eucerin on my 2-year-old who has eczema, and when it breaks out badly, we use hydrocortisone. We brought her to our doctor, who prescribed a stronger hydrocortisone cream than what you can get over the counter. With your child being so young, I would definitely run whatever you do by a doctor, but Eucerin and hydrocortisone has worked pretty well for us. Also, I'm experimenting with switching to laundry detergents without any added colors or fragrances, in case she is sensitive to any of that.

My daughter suffered from really bad eczema around that same age. Treat his eczema by switching to aveeno body wash and lotion and make sure you you really soke the sploches in it everyday. Eventually they will grow out of it atleast my daughter did thank goodness.
Salena F.
Our doctor gave us an rx for Hylira. It worked wonders and had her eczema cleared up within a week.
Wow, I wish I would have had this webboard when my kids were little, you guys are great!
My son had this rash when he was just days old, it would come and go. At about 3 months I finally got a diagnosis of the Atopic dermatitis/eczema.
We used Eucerin in the jar, not the bottle. It's darn near like white axel grease. But put it on him right after the bath so it will absorb properly. Also, we would use a blow dryer on a very low/warmth setting to try to keep the diaper area dryed out, because it was a skin compromised problem area.
According to our doctors, eczema is the skins' inability to produce and hold onto it's own moisture. My son is now 12, and he has to stay in the bath for 25 minutes each night to keep his skin hydrated, and we use shea butter body cream from Bed Bath and Beyond (he hates the Eucerin). It helps, but its; a constant demanding problem maintaining the hydration to keep the outbreaks down to a dull roar.
It is really important to keep the skin from infections, since it's already compromised so be careful to keep his rashy areas clean and sparing treatments of Hydrocortizone cream can help. I didn't use it often on my son when he was a baby.
A., Both of my children have eczema and both have responded to very different treatment. I would recommend seeing a Pediatric Dermatologist to get a good diagnosis and plan of attack. We see Dr. Horii at Children's Mercy (she has offices at both locations). She is wonderful and really whipped both of my kids' skin into shape!
sounds just like what my son was going through. We went to the doctor and he said there is this line of products called Arbone Baby Care, but you have to know someone that sells it. Anyway, we use the body oil (not the same as baby oil, dont use baby oil because it will make it worse) it works really well. But it started getting worse so we use the body oil once a day then the doctor gave us some sterioid cream and we put that on, but it can not go on the face or genital area. After we put the cream on, we use aveeno baby daily moisturizer to seal it in. His skin is smooth now and he has an occasional break out, which he will have for the rest of his life. Try some of that. Good luck. also you want to start using dye and scent free laundry detergent, with no fabric sofetner. scents and dyes tend to make it worse. also in the bath we use aveeno baby body wash for body wash and shampoo.
My son has that and has every since he was little. It worsens during the Winter and every time the weather changes. I have taken him to the doctor for it and they have only given me 1 percent hydrocortizone (spelling?) cream. You can actually buy this over the counter or we have also found Eucerin lotion to be great, it's more expensive than the hydrocortizone. It's a bit thicker than vaseline. I would start with those first. Hope it helps!
My son also has eczema and has had it since he was about 4 months old. We use Aveeno for babies when it isn't really bad and we also put it on him after every bath to prevent it from flairing up. When it is really bad the doctor gave us a steroid cream that works really well. You should really take him to the doctor and have it diagnosed and he should give you a cream.
A.,
I know of a natural product that has worked really well for eczema. If you would like to more about it, just email me.
Looking forward to talking to you. ~J. B

One of my triplets has eczema. Her Doctor prescribed a cream that works pretty good. We also used Disney's Eczema Wash when she has it bad. The good thing is that it usually starts to go away as they get older. My triplets are 15 months now and she hardly ever has problems anymore. Last year, she constantly had it and it was even on her face. I would suggest taking him to the Doctor and requesting a cream to put on him. The thing is that You have to be consistent with the cream. We noticed that if we didn't put it on her for a couple days in a row...it would get worse. Best of luck :)
D.
Noxema works great....I just found this out. The doctor prescribed a cream last year and it bleached my daughters skin in the summer time..her skin is normal now. But, many of these creams contain a steroid..which can turn their skin white in the sun. So, we now use Noxema when she has flair ups.
Hi A.,
Like Kelly said, melaleuca has a great lotion that works and it is completely free of chemicals, I have been a customer from them for about 3 years now and wouldn't change their naturally based products for anything! I can give you a lotion for the catalog price if you'd like to give it a try, I am not doing the buisness anymore but when somene needs it I will definitely recommend it and once you are a customer you can sign other people that wants to buy through them. It is the healthierst product available for such a little child.
Good luck!

A company called Melaleuca offers a lotion called Renew. It absolutely clears up skin from Eczema, plus much more! It's the only lotion our family has in our home anymore. Anyway, purchases are made online on by phone. Their products are not available in the store. There are many documented cases of babies/children with severe cases being cleared up by this lotion. Anyway, if you want more info. you can email me directly and I can try to get you some to try before you buy or something or at least talk you through ordering some online. It's not difficult, but their website can be confusing at first. I'd be happy to help you!
A.,
Definitely sounds like eczema. If it is, your baby is uncomfortable and itchy.
An oatmeal bath is very soothing and will help with the itching. You can get it at Walgreens or any drug store.
Vanicream and Eucerin cream are good to help get rid of it. You want to use a cream rather than a lotion. Creams don't clog pores like lotions and lotions can sting.
Eczema is caused by allergies. Switching to a powder detergent with no perfume may help. Also, stop using fabric softener (a common cause of eczema.) I know this can be hard to give up. Wash all new clothes before he wears them, or make sure he wears a previously washed onesie underneath.
Have your pediatrician look to make sure that it is eczema.
As you might guess, I have lived with this issue. I have 5 kids three of which had eczema at one time or another. Once you figure out what causes it, you will be able to avoid it in the future.
Enjoy your baby, they really grow fast.
S.
Eczema is best described as an itch that rashes. The places you've mentioned can be eczema, but you might also consider if you've changed laundry detergent or bath soap or bubble bath. My oldest son has struggled with eczema all his life. If it is eczema, your pediatrician can prescribe an anti-itch cream. You could try over the counter hydrocortizone cream. One trick for especially itchy spots is to apply the hydrocortizone cream, then apply a thin layer of vaseline on top. It helps the cream stay on and moisurizes the area. Hope this helps.
Hi A.! My 2 yr. old son also has terrible eczema, his is pretty bad, so his doctor prescribed him a couple of different creams. If your sons isn't too bad you can try things like over the counter hydrocortisone, eucerin, and just keeping it moisturized with unscented, plain lotion. If it gets worse, your doctor may be able to write a prescription for stronger hydrocortisone, but sometimes they don't like that for the younger babies. And you may want to watch for allergies and asthma, which usually come along with eczema. Good Luck!
Hi A.-
First of all, I am so sorry to hear about yours son's discomfort and skin irritation!
I would highly suggest trying Arbonne's Baby Care products! I have an 19 month old son and from day one I have been using all products exclusively. The diaper cream and body oil are especially fantastic when used together! I also use the body wash and lotion. He has responded very well to these products and the mothers that I have recommend Arbonne's products to have had nothing but successful things to say! One mother mentioned that she no longer had to see the dermatologist b/c the condition cleared up. Another told me that not only did her son's skin begin to clear up within days but he was sleeping better and not running fevers!
Arbonne's products are all natural and botanically based, fragrant free, no animal testing or bi-products. And most of all, products are approved by Pediatricians. My father is a pediatrician and pediatric oncologist and has referred many patients and nurses, who's children have excema, to me b/c he sees the success in using these products and knows that they are truly SAFE!
If you are interested in learning more about Arbonne's products, especially our baby care line, please don't hesitate to email me at ____@____.com. I always offer a 35% discount on products and sometimes can even extend the discount to 50 or 80% off! This month I have a special promotion on qualifying orders which you can receive a FREE gift, $20 in value!
We also have a wonderful 45-day return/exchange policy if it doesn't work out at well as anticipated.
I hope you do find something that works and your son is no longer is discomfort!

That sound like exactly what it is. Dry usually round patches of skin, sometimes even as bad as pussy, and bleeds. Usually in the exact areas you mention, and is difficult to get rid of because it is moist. Crease of arms at the front of elbows, behind the knees etc. I will try to make a long story short. My son, now 10 fought eczema from shortly after birth until he was 8 years old. I tried everything with my pediatrician whom I trust completely. Hydracortazone, cetaphil soaps, and finally steroids. My ob then came along with Arbonne. If you haven't heard of them they are all pure, safe botanically based products, and most of all THEY WORK. I would have tried anything for my little boy to catch some relieve. He would wake up with bloody sheets from scratching in the night and not even realizing it. Anyway, because of that experience I am now and have been an Area Manager with Arbonne for 3 years now. I would love to talk to you about what I think would be the best for him, and offer you my dicount so you could see for yourself how wonderful the products really are. THEY WORK. At his age the first thing would be to start with the wash that you bathe him in. I hope this helps, please do not hesitate to give me a call if you are interested.

Make it a great day.
Here at 2 things that I suggest. Melaluca Renew lotion and Arbonne's ABC line of products. I have a customer whose dermatologist has suggested both products to her. (I am a Arbonne consultant) I'd use all ABC products on your little one for washing, diaper rash, sunscreen and oil. I would also use the Melaluca Renew lotion. All of these products are natural or botanically based which is one of the major factors that will help your little guys eczema. Parents have seen results overnight. If you do not have an Arbonne consultant or Melaluca consultant let me know because I can help you. ____@____.com
My son got exzema around the same time. It started around his belly and spread everywhere but his face. We used vaseline instead of lotion (still do), dreft detergent and no fabric softener, and Dove Sensitive bar soap to get it under control. We saw a pediatric derm. who prescribed us some stronger hydrocortisone ointment for his body and had us use over the counter hydrocortisone ointment for his diaper area. (make sure it's ointment and not cream, the cream is drying) It's been 9 months now and it is under control and I haven't used the ointments in a long while. I still do the preventative steps though. Good luck!
My 10 month-old had the same problem, and my doctor prescribed a steroid cream for him. But she also had us pick up some dermabase from the pharmacy. It's the base cream for any kind of prescription cream. It works great! You just have to ask the pharmacist for it. It comes in a big jar and costs about $10 or so, but you don't have to use a ton of it at a time so it will last a good long time. You may not even need the prescription if you use the dermabase. I also don't use any kind of scented lotions on him. Baby wash doesn't seem to bother him, but scented lotions have a bad effect on his skin. Hope this helps!
I use Eucerin Aquaphor... it is great! You can get it at any drugstore and clears it up quickly!

HELPING Moms Stay Home
Hi A.!
My daughter has had really bad eczema too. AFter trying a ton of different lotions, savs, oils, etc, we found that Lubriderm worked the best and didn't sting her.
That's our story. Good Luck!
D. D.
My son also has from eczema. The first 2 years of his life were pretty rough. He would scratch at them untill they were bleeding. I tried everything from cortisone cream to all natural products and nothing worked! Finally i took him to see a dermatologist who prescribed 2 ointments - 1 called Triamcinelone and another called Desonide. The triamcinelone was for when it got really bad and the other is more mild. I also switched to everything "free and clear" shampoo, bodywash, laundry soap etc. As far as a moisturizer he told me to use Creamy Petroleum Jelly. It takes a minute to soak in but it is totally free of any fragrance or dye. The doctor also put him on a syrup called Peri - Actin to help with the itching and his normal seasonal allergies. Needless to say we mad it through the winter with not a single outbreak! My son is now 3 1/2 and has had clear skin for about a year. The doctor also told me that contrary to popular belief I did need to bath him daily, but keep him moisturized. I remember at first we would put the vaseline on him 2 - 3 times a day.
I dont know where you are located but he sees the dermatologist at Childrens Mercy Hospital in KC MO. Hope this helps! E.
Arbonne baby care oil is great for eczema. Most baby oils are not recommended, but this one is not the typical mineral-oil treatment. Also, Eucerin cream is good, and available over-the counter.
A...Please email me..I do have a solution..Are you in St Louis , MO ?? N. at ____@____.com
I know doctor trips are a pain but my little guy's eczema got so bad his skin started peeling. Our ped gave us a prescription for 2.5%(i think that's the strength)hydrocortisone ointment. It worked great!
My 2 1/2 year old has suffered with eczema from a very early age also. We use eucerin CREAM every night after bath and/or before bed and he hasn't had any rashes in a really long time! :)
Have you ever tried Arbonne baby products? Their baby line supposedly is great for children with sensitive skin.
My daughter has also battled Eczema off and on since she was an infant. "Aquaphor" jell/cream is a great solution. Also, at that age, if you are bathing your boy every day, you should stop doing that, as the dryness irritates the eczema. Try bathing every couple of days. Nice wash cloth baths are fine for awhile. Another thing would be to check the laundry detergent you are using. You will want to make sure you are using a hypoallergenic laundry detergent on all his clothes, blankets, sheets, towels, etc. These new "ultra concentrated" detergents that are out now are big irritants to sensitive skin. If nothing works after trying all of these things, you will want to get a steroid cream from the pediatrician. You get a huge tube that lasts a long time - and it clears up the flareups within a couple of days. My daughter is now almost 4 years old and I am going to try an allergist as well in May, just to make sure there isn't something else she is around that is an irritant... Might consider that option too, as often an allergy to something will cause an eczema flare up. Good luck!
My son is 41/2 months old and also has eczema. I asked his ped about treating him with hydrocortizone (sp) and aquaphor. The ped said that is exactly how she would treat it. She also said that a 5 minute bath is also helpful on a daily basis. Any more than 5 minutes and it makes the problem worse. The trick is to get the aquaphor on within 3 minutes of taking him out of the bath. We have been doing this every night for the past month and it has worked wonders. Good luck.
My 3 yr old has eczema since he was one. We use Avenno body wash and lotion and it works very well. When he has a break out-give him a bath and immediatley apply a genorous amount of lotion, then continue to apply lotion every couple of hours. It will go away after a couple of days then continue the proscess for a couple of days after the rash has cleared up. Don't forget behind the knees, behind ears, and in the creases between the cute little fat rolls. I hope this helps, we tried every kind of lotion out there and spent hundereds of dollars on lotions and soaps. Also wash all of the baby clothes and bedding with dreft or ALL free. It works just as well and is cheaper. Good luck, I hope he feels better soon.
I have eczema and I found this lotion at Walgreen's called Sarna lotion that comes in a pump bottle. I really like it because it has helped with the itching & dryness. I highly recommend it. You may want to talk to your pediatrician before you use it since your baby is so young or check the label for use for infants.
