I had not heard of that. I also started with Nuby's, but when DS became more of a toddler, I switched to the Playtex cups. They take a beating a lot better, and the cooler cups are nice in the summer.
They're pretty much all we use now.
Ok ladies, I have my son on Nuby sippy's....one of my friends told me the other day her pediatrician said that Nuby was bad for the teeth and jaw development because it is still soft nipple like a bottle. I know all doctors are different and believe in different ways but have any of you heard this?
I tried all kinds of sippy's and Nuby is the only one my baby likes to drink out of....do you suggest me to try any other kind?

I started my DD on the Nuby, and also on the Playtex straw kind. She used them both with no issues, until she figured out how to 'milk' the soft spout to get the water out. So I switched to some Playtex ones that have hard plastic spouts. It took a few tries of giving it to her without the valves so she could understand that water DID come out of there... then I put the valve back in and she does just fine with it. :) I still let her use the straw kind for the car. (it's easier than trying to tip a cup in the car seat.)
Yes, that is true. I have heard it from several friends who are speech pathologists. We actually never used them b/c of that!
We really like the Playtex "straw cups". They are insulated and have a "slide" on the top to keep the straw part clean and non-leaky. So far, we've had great luck!
I love the Tommee Tippee brand. They are very highly recommended. Just Google them, and you'll pull up all sorts of information about them; as well as their website. I've found that they're only sold in Babies R Us and Toys R Us.
We've gotten the 6 month & up sippy cup (w/ handles) and the 9 month & up sippy cup (w/o handles) made by them; and now we have the 12 month & up cup (w/ a straw) made by them. I'd actually tried others (e.g., Nuby, Playtex, etc.), but this brand was the absolute best.
