It's not in Keller, but you should go to 4 DAY Weekend in downtown Fort Worth. It is an impromtu (clean) comedy show.
It is hilarious and you won't ne disappointed.-JB
My son is going to visit my mother-in-law for 6 days and this will be the first time I will be without him in several years. When my husband was alive we would occasionaly have a date night but since his passing (2 1/2 years ago) my son has not left my side (besides work/school). Now I have no idea what to do with a "free" night..especially not several nights. What is there to do for a single person in the Keller area? All of my friends are married and have kids but since I am going to be childless I would like to do some grown-up activies. Any suggestions?

Depends on the kinds of things you like to do! If you want to meet people, there are bars and such at Southlake Square and on Main Street in Grapevine. I wouldn't suggest our local "up n smoke" bar though!! But, if you'd like to just do some adult things - try going to Fair Park in Dallas or Bass Hall in Fort Worth for a theater production. I'm not sure what's playing, but I'm sure it will be entertaining! You could make reservations to have dinner at the top of the Reunion tower in Dallas (or just dessert and coffee if you like) and just enjoy the sights.
There really isn't much in Keller proper - Southlake has a lot more to choose from in terms of restaurants. If you like wine, I hear the Wine Loft is very nice and busy during the happy hour time. Brio is an excellent restaurant at the square and you could walk to the movies to watch Mamma Mia.
Our mom's group has a lot of activities coming up - if you'd like to meet some ladies in the area, I'd love for you to check out our group. We have moms with kids of all ages, so it's not the typical mom group. It started as a working mom's group and has been really a lot of fun. It actually originated from here on mamasource! Good luck - I do hope you enjoy your "me" time whatever you decide to do. Even if it's just to run around the house naked!!
I agree 4 Day Weekend in Fort Worth is a show worth seeing. You can go with a friend or have a laugh by yourself.
I think you need to really pamper yourself. How about a day at the spa at the Gaylord Texan? That would be something to do all by yourself. Take a book or some magazines, and be a princess for a day!
First, sorry for the loss of your husband. I know it's not Keller, but The Kimball in Fort Worth is hosting the impressionist collection from Chicago. It's half off on Tuesday and open late. www.kimballart.org
The Amon Carter's regular collection is free and close to the Kimball. http://www.cartermuseum.org/
You go to a movie or rent one that a 13 year old wouldn't appreciate. That's all I can think of for sure.
You could always walk around Old Town Keller and see all the shops then grab a bite to eat. There is also Keller Town Square and not too far away is Southlake Town Square off of 1709 where they have everything from movies, bookstore, great places to eat and so much more. An idea is to maybe google keller, tx to see what comes up. :-)
Hi J.,

Well, grab a friend and just go cruise down Southlake - enjoy a coffee outside- sit by the fountain and chat- splurge on yourself and maybe even grab a good book- roam the bookstore without looking for your son-lol grab a good book or even apuzzle book and then when you're home- relax in a nice long hot buddle bath and some of your favorite music- I bet it will take while before you actually can RELAX with a nice glass of wine and just enjoy.
Maybe your church is having a function for singles???
Another night- Brios of course..great atmosphere.
Trust me - even the married friends want a girls night out- so just go for it. Maybe even plan a spa night and get facial stuff and all and hang with the girls a bottle of wine and play scrabble-
Another night- MASSAGE girlfriend- go plan it- and the pedicure at Coldwater creek is really nice
Weekends Fort Worth Sundace square is great to stroll through- get out of the Keller area-
One other day- go to a museum of something that intersts you- you probably havent done that- or the botanical center-in Fort Worth- great restaurant there-
bring a book and hang in the shade.
In Colleyville- there is a Anitque place on Rt 26- forgot the name of it- by ACE Hardware- looks like nothing from the outside but they have a great renovated tea room inside and lots of great finds for the house.
Central Market- cooking class
If I wasnt going to San Antonio- I'd join you!
Relax- you deserve it....

I second the suggestion about seeing the Impressionists at the Kimball. I grew up near Chicago, so I was lucky to see these famous paintings on a regular basis. They are truly masterpieces, even if you're not an "artsy" type (which I'm not) you'll appreciate seeing them because they are so famous. The Art Institute of Chicago is said to have the best French Impressionist collection outside of the Louve in Paris. Afterward, treat yourself to dinner at Uncle Julio's in Ft. Worth, or at Joe T. Garcia's where you can dine in the garden.
Here in Keller, you could check out Baja Grill, just around the corner from Albersons on 377 (it faces North Tarrant, sort of tucked around the side). They offer "margarita therapy" and serve some good food too.
Hope you have a fun and relaxing break!
