I am desperately seeking some single mom support (of course other than this wonderful website!) that are going through the same "single mom syndrome" as myself. I am a single mom of two beautiful children with not much support and sometimes find myself at wits end. I know I am not the only one out there going through this and would love to hear some feedback on how to deal with it when you are feeling so overwhelmed and don't get a break!
Hello E.....I dont know of any off the top of my head..but I know if you go to Yahoo groups you can find some wonderful groups. I have a brain condition and have found some wonderful friends. We have a support group that meets online as well as offline. Maybe you can find one there. Good luck to you.

I too am a single mom. I don't know where you live, I live in Glendale Heights. My other SM friend in Naperville has in the last few months gotten a lot of support from a group called divorce meetup. You could google that, or it's divorce meet-up. It is supposed to be for support of those divorced or divorcing, but many have kids and is not supposed to be a meat market place. She is having a lot of fun with her group. I am happy to talk anytime (or listen if you like). Let me know what I can do- you are not alone...

E. - Join www.meetup.com - for free - and click on find a meetup - do a search for single parents. There's a single parents group - northwest suburbs - but then it says it's based in Bloomingdale. Anyway, I don't belong yet - waiting to see if my pg sticks, but I am single and plan to join the group once I get out of the first trimester. I'm going to desperately need support as most of my family is out of state and my closest friends all have moved out of state as well.

I am also a newly divorced mom of two, I have b/g twins that just turned 4. I feel your pain and stress of being a single mom. I am glad you asked the question as I was going to ask the same question. If you are intersted in cooresponding via email or get together let me know. I am not sure where you live? Just talking to someone who knows what you are going thru can be helpful. Someone to vent to helps as well. I'm a single grandma / foster mom to my two little granddaughters. I live in Carol Stream. I have two groups to tell you about: We've been working at getting a group started in my church. We've met twice (once monthly) so far, and both of those have been in Carol Stream, but with the goal to move it around monthly to accommodate those that live further away (we have someone that lives in Montgomery and at least two in Aurora). It is a Bible based group (our goal is to help one another to raise our kids in a way that is pleasing to God). Let me know if you'd be interested, and I can give you more details. It's just a small group right now, we only have about 12 single moms in my church, and not all have attended.
If you're not interested in a Bible-based group, I found a single mom's group in either Bloomingdale or Glendale Heights on meetup.com, however, I've not attended anything yet, so I have nothing to share with you about it.
I am a newly single mom of a 9 and almost 7 year old. I have great family and friends that help me out. However it is hard for them to understand many things, because they have not gone through it. I am not too far from you in Carol Stream, but do not know any local groups. I have found cafemom.com and there are many great women with similar situations that are wonderful. Wish you the best.
