Contact your school district and ask them questions. I personally don't know of any free preschool programs. Right now I am paying $175/mo for 2 days at a private-preschool here in Castle Rock.
Good luck!
My son will be three in February and start preschool next fall. This is my first child and I am not sure how I go about getting him signed up. I remember hearing about long lines and lotteries to get signed up for preschool in Douglas County. We live in Highlands Ranch, so any information you can offer on schools in this area would be great. I know that there are numerous private schools, but I would like to avoid paying a ton if at all possible.
Though I didn't get much help here, I was able to figure out what I need to do. There is a phone number to call for Douglas County and the lottery for preschool will be held in March. The sign up for Highlands Ranch rec. center preschools is in February. If anyone needs this information they can contact me.

There is a Pre School in your area called "Learning L.A.M.B.s" that focuses on getting your child ready for Kindergarten. There is not a lottery to get in, it is first come, first served. They feature Spanish, American Sign Language, Music and Art. Healthy habits are also a part of the program. (No trans fats or hydrogenated oils served there!) Rates are cheaper than anywhere else I've seen. Reading, Writing and Math are the strong foundations being taught. Their phone number is: ###-###-####.
Hi S.,
I don't know about the Highlands Ranch area but I called the preschools in my area to find out the procedure. I also called private schools and choose one of them. It was not expensive $140.00 a month and an excellent preschool. My daughter attended preschool for three years,
HAve you looked into the preschool programs at the Rec Centers? I don't know the details, but there are classes at each of them, so that might be a good option. A lot of daycares also have preschool programs that are pretty affordable--I know my daughter's does. Hers has a half day program M-F (8-noon).
