Have have that problem if I put a snug onesie on my 9 month old. If the onesie is loose she doesn't leak. I use the least expensive diapers for overnight and cloth for the daytime.
Hi, Ladies!
I'm writing because we have had problems with diapers leaks with my son (7 mos. old) that I'm trying to resolve. When it first started happening, we moved up a size or two in diapers, started using overnight diapers, used diaper doublers, etc. and, for a while, we found a system that solved the problem.
However, for about a week now he has had a leak every morning (and it may even be causing him to wake up a little earlier than he should). The problem is, the leak is on the side of the diaper, not the front or back. He wears size 3 diapers during the day. At night we put a size 4 overnight diaper and last night added a diaper doubler hoping the extra padding would help, but it did not. Does anyone out there have suggestions for stopping diapers leaks on the side of the diaper?
Thanks for the help!

I finally got a wool soaker that goes over the diaper and wicks away any leakage. Because of wools PH balance it only needs to be washed every couple of weeks. They are a little pricey but worth it! I got the Aristocrats brand but there are others.
Yes! Try to change brands and one zise up in the new brand. For example, Huggies don't seem to work as well for boys for side leaks as Pampers do. But of course it depends on your son's body shape. We have tried many brands and like Pampers the best for our son. But, he might just be a very heavy night wetter. Can you try to change him quietly before you go to bed? Like with no light and such? With my son that never worked because he wakes up easily so we just started using one size up for night-time and they seem to work well. We also use the Pampers Baby Dry for night and Cruisers for day time. Hope this helps
brand brand brand. pampers cruisers are the best for keeping away the leaks. my 2 children went through similar situations. huggies supremes are good...if you like the feel of sand paper on your tush. seriously though i would go with the cruisers..not the baby drys or the swaddlers.
Maybe the Size 4 are TOO big and aren't fitting snugly enough around the legs?
With my boys, we learned the hard way that it can be the position of their privates in the diaper that makes a difference. No doubt, this is a boy thing. LOL Be sure that he is facing up toward his belly button and not off to the side. This was a big deal with my oldest. It drove me batty before I finally figured it out.
Hope this works

My son blew out and leaked through everything except Pampers Swaddlers/Cruisers. They're alittle more expensive but if you're spending extra money on washing sheets and clothes, not to mention your time and interrupted sleep it's well worth it.
We've also had very good luck with Pampers diapers. They rarely leak and sometimes our daughter will really fill them overnight. Also, when you put on the diaper, what do you do with the front "tabs"? There are often tabs on the front that you can fold around the side to help snug the diaper around the legs. Worse comes, you can try a cover meant for a cloth diaper. They sell overnight versions.
we had very similar issue, it was so bad that we were doing laundry every day. We solved it completely by placing a large pad for incontinence (made by poise) inside the pullup every night, and we haven't had any issues since. We have some mighty heavy pullups in the morning, but the sheets and pjs are dry. I hope this helps and good luck. Just as an FYI, it has helped several friends of ours as well. Again, good luck!
The first post is solid advice so I won't repeat it. I'll just add that it could also be the brand you are using. Not all diapers are created equal. For instance, I will never use Luvs again since they basically disintegrate when wet and the absorbent filling spills out to become a choking hazard. I will only use Huggies now, they're the best and I know, I've tried 'em all. Try a different brand than the ones you're currently using. A 7 month old baby shouldn't be producing enough urine every night to soak through a typical, quality disposable, so it follows that he's not, the problem must be the diaper. If you are already using a quality brand, then try aiming him in the right direction and if you're still having leaks, talk to your doctor about the unusually copious amount of urine your little one is producing.
I had a similar problem, but I stopped fluids about an hour before bedtime and use his regular size diaper and made sure that the elastic around his legs was not folded up inside the diaper. I think cutting down on the fluids before bedtime is what really helped. If he needs a bottle at bedtime try giving him 1/2 of a bottle instead of a whole one.
