My youngest does the same thing and the only diaper I've found that keeps him dry all night is Huggies Overnights. I buy one size up for more protection. Since we started using these I do a lot less laundry!

I have a 5 month old little girl. We are currently using Pampers diapers. She sleeps through the night usually at least 9 hours. Nearly every morning she wakes up wet all up her front side. She does roll over and sleep on her belly during the night. I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem or could suggest a brand of diaper that maybe better. We used Huggies with our boy and never had this problem....he also didn't sleep through the night until 18 months old though.

I just read a snippet in Parenting magazine about this exact problem! The mom from the article put a maxi pad across the inside top of the diaper to absorb the extra pee at night (her daughter was a stomach sleeper, too). She said it worked great!
We have used Target diapers since my daughter was born. She was a pretty big baby & really soaked her diapers. They are a great value, and we hardly ever have diapers leak through. I tried pampers and luvs and went right back to Target brand.
Try Huggies..I think they hold more...(I have had 3 babies)
We use Chlorine-Free Baby DiapersSoft, cloth-like comfort keeps baby safe and dry. Chlorine-Free Diapers have soft, cloth-like comfort and perform just as well as conventional brands. In addition to keeping your baby dry, the absorbent polymer is non-toxic and non-irritating to baby’s sensitive skin.
Here are some coupons...

I had the same problem with Pamepers as my son got older. I have started usig Luvs. They work great for my son. They are also cheaper then Pampers. Target has them the cheapest.
Mhy experience was we needed to go to a larger diaper for the night time....
We have the problem when we need to move up a diaper size. We use Luvs. They are not as good as Pampers, but close...and 1/2 the price, while being much softer than Huggies.
My son had this problem around 9 mths old and we started using Huggies Overnights. They helped a ton! We use Pampers Cruisers during the day and love them, just use the Overnights at night.
Good luck!
You should try Huggies "overnights". They are the only diaper company that produces an overnight, thicker diaper. Some stores don't sell them--Target does, CVS, and I've found them in Rainbow Foods. I only use Pampers during the day, but for the overnight Huggies deapers have been a life saver for my son who has slept through the night since 4 months!
I believe Huggies has a special "night-time" diaper that is suppose to hold more, but I've never tried it. Pampers always worked the best for us, but we too went through some leaky mornings when our daughter was a little older. You may try a larger size diaper for at night. That may help too???
Hey M. I used to have the problem when my now 6 year old was a baby. I had to use a diaper one size bigger because this was due to the diaper being one size too small. I also would agree that maybe you are giving her too much to drink. Hope this helps you out. A.
Hi M.,
I too have been having the same problem with my girls. I went to Babies'R Us recently and they had these liners for diapers. I have been using them at night and they are working great. You do have to make sure they are place properly otherwise it doesn't work it's charm but I have been pleased with the results. They almost look like maxipads. You can get a package of 30 for 2.99. Sorry I can't remember the name of them though. Good luck.

I recommend double diapering at night. That will prevent the leaks. If two of the same size do not work then try to use a size bigger for the outside diaper. It is the only way we stay dry at night.
Nine hours is too long to let her soak in her own urine. I'd change her in the night even if she is asleep.
I'll agree with a lot of the other posts I have read. I think that huggies are more absorbant and cut out the wet belly problem, but it could be just that you need a larger diaper. I would try a pack of larger diapers first(you will always be able to use them down the road during the day if this does not work). Then, go to Huggies or another recommended brand (I don't have experience with any others) if that doesn't work.
First, a question. How much do you let her drink during the evening hours? Idon't think the problem lies with the diapers. I had that same problem with my daughter. After supper I only let her have one cup (or bottle) before bed. And then make sure I change her before I put her to bed. I use regular store brand diapers and they work the same as name brand.
I love huggies...I had the same problem with Luvs and Pampers....My daughter seems to wet a lot and it leaked out constantly..
I use huggies for my daughter. She drinks alot of milk and is used to getting a cup before bed. Her diapers are very full in the morning but she has never wet through them. she is 16 months and has been sleeping through the night for over a year now. She usually sleeps for 11-12 hours on the weekends.
When I had my son I was dead set on using pampers, but back then they had the plastic tabs and they would scratch him every time he crawled so I swiched to huggies and thats what I have used ever since.

My son and daughter leaked through every night with disposables. We just switched to cloth diapers. I figured out that we can save $1,000 a year by switching, not to mention the impact on the environment. It isn't nearly as difficult as you might imagine. With cloth we can add more padding where and when needed. (My son needs triple inserts for nights.) It may be something you want to look into. Some types of cloth diapers are just as easy to use as disposables.
Have you thought about trying cloth? A lot of people are intimidated by cloth diapers because they don't know how many different kinds are out there. Cloth is great because you can add to or take away as much absorbancy as you need. If you have any questions about cloth feel free to let me know :o)
Hi,
This may be a simple solution, but maybe one you haven't thought of. I have always used Pampers and whenever my son has woken up from a nights sleep soaked through it was time to switch to a bigger size diaper especially at night time.
I don't like switching diaper brands because of allergies and diaper rashes.
Good luck!
M., I feel your pain. Initially, when my daughter was first born, we used pampers diapers. They were great, but the next stage diapers weren't as protective. As a result, my daughter would wake up soaked as your daughter has. My boyfriend and I made a switch to Huggies, and they work wonderfully. My daughter is now 15 months old and has never had leaks with Huggies even when she sleeps for more than 10 hours at night. Best of all, they are the same price as Pampers, so the pocket book doesn't get affected. In fact, if you register on the Huggies website, the company sends you 1.50 coupons every month for the diapers. I hope this was helpful and good luck with your search.
The ONLY brand of diapers that never leaked for me was Luvs. They are nice, cheaper and have a no-leak guarantee. I never found another brand for my daughter that I didn't have problems with and could only use Luvs (plus, that is the only brand she wasn't allergic to).
Good Luck - from a LUVS mom... maybe they should put me on their payroll. haha
well, she could either need a bigger size or a more absorbant diaper. when my daughter needed a more absorbant diaper, we switched to Huggies OVernites at night
My middle daughter had that same problem. What I had to do was try all different brands until I found the right one for her. She does best on Luv's throughout the night, we don't get the leaks or the giant puddle in her crib. She was such a tummy sleeper that she taught herself how to roll over really early and still now that she is 2 refuses to sleep on her back. I think tummy sleepers can go through their diapers a lot quicker than back sleepers. Now my new baby is starting the same thing...but Luv's isn't working for her, I think each baby is completely different, different body different shape, so now I get to start the diaper search for her. What I usually do is if a diaper doesn't work during the night I just use them during the day until they are gone. Good luck on your hunt!
Hi M.,
As a mom of 2yr old and 4 yr old girls, I always found that LUVS diapers held it in the best at night. Hope this helps.
Like some others, you may need to up the size. I also use the "baby dry" pampers for night and "cruisers" for day. Also read in Parenting this month that a mom attached a maxi pad at night to her daughter's diaper for exactly what you described (sleeping on belly with butt in the air).
You could try putting plastic diaper covers over her disposable ones. Or putting more than one diaper on her.
I just raised my 4-year old grandson and have had my 2 year old granddaughter a good amount of the time and in my opinion Huggies Supremes are the best diaper for any baby. They are the most expensive but by far #1. I swear by them! Good Luck!
Here's another vote for the Huggies Overnights.. I do not understand why more companies don't make overnight diapers?! I bet most every mom on here has had to deal with this at one time or another! :)
My daughter is 14 months today and the past month and a half we've been doing the diaper switch tryin larger sizes and diff brands to no avail, until we finally found huggies overnights at target. My daughter sleeps from 8pm till anywhere between 7 and 9:30am and now she's dry every morning!
I always had that problem with Pampers. I've used the Parent's Choice Wal-Mart brand with all three of my kids and they've worked great. That, plus the bonus that they're only $5.67 instead of the $9 and $10 like name brands will have me recommending them to everyone. I've currently got a 2 year old and a 2.5 month old in them and it's saving me about $40 a month. Also, the Target and Shopko brands work great too, and they're the same price. Try em out,I bet you won't be dissapointed. Hope this helps.
No need to wake her up and change her. My babies are notoriously long sleepers (I have a 3 month old that sleeps 13 hours). Huggies are all you need. They work every time. I usually had my older daughter in generic diapers all day, but used Huggies at night. My little one doesn't need them yet:)
My daughter sleeps on her stomach as well, all night long. I used Pampers and Huggies on her in the beginning, but they leaked terribly, even during the day. I now use Luvs and have used them for quite a while, with NO problems. She wakes up in the morning and her diaper will be soaked, but there will be no leaks. I would recommend Luvs, I have no problems with them, and they are MUCH CHEAPER than Huggies Supreme! Although, you might try just going up a size if she's close to being out of her current size. I hope you find something that works, leaky diapers are not fun!
I'm a true huggies fan with the diapers and wipes!!
Luvs were the only ones that worked for my kids. The other good idea is to check the size - I always knew it was time to go up on a diaper size when they began to leak. Good Luck!
Hi. The only diapers my daughter didn't leak through overnight were the Huggies Supremes. When she got older I even got the Huggies Overnights, which seemed to really work well. Good luck.
I've always found that when my children were on the brink of switching diaper sizes that I'd have to switch to a larger size at night before having to switch during the day. I'd just buy a size larger to put on before bed and then use the same size you currently are during the day until you've noticed they're outgrown.
My daughter was the same way! With the pampers I found that a night sometimes the diaper would break and all those little pelts that hold the liquid would break out... what a mess.
About a month ago I asked my hubby to pick up diapers and he got pampers forgetting we switched... well we had the same problem again. Thankfully it was a small package so we used them during the day and during naps we used huggies.
I think if you have a little one that moves a lot while sleeping the pampers just don't work as well. We switched to Huggies and have no problems now!
I've used white cloud brand diapers (I believe you can only buy them at Wal-Mart) since my daughter was born. She has always had a full cup of milk before going into bed and then she gets a cup of water to take with her. I should also add that she sleeps 12 hours every night. Hope this helps!
It doesn't matter what diapers you use, if your daughter sleeps on her belly she will pee through even the most absorbent because the absorbency is toward the crouch area. My advice, put a maxi pad on the top of her diaper at night. This will help with the excess liquid from leaking out. As for boys, they tend to, because of mechanics, pee toward the absorbent part of the diapers. I hope this helps and good luck!
I use the Target brand and have never had problems (but neither of my kids have ever wet much at night...) - try moving her up to the next size at night.
Hey, M.! Sounds like I'm with the majority of responses you've already received, but I'm going to add my support behind it. My daughter is 14 months. We switched to Huggies Snug & Dry for night time when she was about 6 months old (when she started rolling onto her tummy at night). We very rarely have leaks at night now. We use Target brand during the day, which I like a lot more for daytime than Huggies (Huggies make it hard for you to tell when baby is wet during the day unless she's peed a ton). As soon as I get her ready for bed, I put my daughter in the Huggies. She sleeps usually from 8:00 pm until 7:00 am and, like I said, rarely has a leak. Good luck with it!
It's generally not the brand that makes the difference. Just go up a size at night and it should be fine.
We use the generic Walmart diapers and they work great.

Mom to 4, soon 5 through another adoption and hopefully more :o)
Huggies makes a night time diaper. It really works.
We had some trouble with my 5 month-old daughter leaking at night a few months ago and switched to Huggies Supreme and haven't had very many leaks with them. Also going up a size tends to help too. We also use the Huggies Supremes with my son and limit his fluids after dinner (he's 2 1/2) because he was CONSTANTLY leaking at night. There were a few months where we would change his diaper in the middle of the night and that one would be FULL (if it hadn't already leaked) and the one in the morning would be FULL.
I personally like Luves and I also like the Target band they work great. I havent had a problem with either one.
Switch to Huggies overnight diapers.
When our son was around this age we had a very similar problem. We switched to Huggies supreme diapers during the day and use Huggies Overnight diapers at bedtime. We have had minimal leaking problems since then.
Another tactic is to buy one size up from what your son is in. We are always ahead a size on diapers -- that way you can fasten them tighter and they absorb a little more.
Good Luck.
My 11 month old daughter has used Pampers her whole life and she used to have incredibly full diapers (nursed through night) and also rolls herself onto her belly, but they never leaked. It could be that he just needs a larger sized diaper?
My daughter leaked out of Pampers too, so we switched to Huggies as a bunch of people on Mamasource recommended. She leaked out of those too. After trying a few other brands, I finally I took the suggestion of another mom and went up one diaper size at night. She hasn't leaked since! You may want to try going up a size if she continues to leak :)
I have had lousy experiences with Luvs, Target, Huggies and Pampers. I used cloth diapers for my first child, and this solved the problem (using extra padding in the middle during the night), but with my second baby I was working and didn't have time to wash and fold diapers. I now swear by Especially for Baby brand diapers (the brand put out by Babies R Us and also sold at Toys R Us). They have a "Supremes" line that is for overnight or extended use, it works wonderfully, and it costs much less than the other brands except for maybe Target brand.
M.,
We use Huggies at night and Luvs during the day with our 9 month old daughter. I didn't really have any problems with Pampers though. She did leak through one day last week with the Huggies because she is now playing on her belly in the morning.
You could always put her in a size bigger at night, that way there is more room.
My daughter just woke up this morning soaked! I think at night we will put her in a size bigger then she is in now so we can use the Pampers baby dry instead of the swaddlers, there is no need to wake her though.
I was always told Huggies for boys, Pampers for girls, we tried Huggies with both our girls and they both had leaks and "bunching" in places. My oldest daughter saw that I was putting Huggies on the baby and she said "oh no leaks"
Hi-If you are still having issues with your disposables leaking at night, I would recommend using cloth All-In-Ones with a doubler. My son sleeps 11-12 hours with no leaks! Just a suggestion. :)
