Sick Four Year Old - Any Advice?

My almost four year old daughter is sick, but not quite sick enough to go to the doctor. She's got a fever, ranging from 99 yesterday to 102 earlier today. I've given her Motrin and her fever comes back down. She thinks she has to puke frequently, but she's only thrown up twice - both last night and it was the water she'd drunk right before. She's been able to keep food and water down, and I'm not worried that she's dehydrated. Mostly she's just kind of miserable, a bit sniffly, and is coughing like she has something dripping down her throat. She woke up feeling yukky yesterday and is slightly worse today.

Any thoughts of ways to make her more comfortable? I have a doctors appointment scheduled for 10am tomorrow if she's still sick.

Thanks!

So What Happened?

Thanks ladies. It's nice to know that there's not some magic cure out there I'm missing. My daughter is now resting on the couch watching Dinosaur Train (a big treat in our mostly TV-free house) with her sister. After dinner we'll do a nice bath. And I've already squirted her nose with some saline spray. Her fever is down to 99 and she has eaten an enormous amount of food in the last 1/2 hour without any threat of puking. Hopefully on the mend!

Cuddle her a lot, put a cool cloth on her head and just give her lots of attention =-) Alternate between motrin & tylenol.

Popsicles and jello are always a big hit with my kids when they are sick.

Also, does she mind the nasal saline mist?

Hope she feels better soon!

alternate the motrin with tylenol for fever...it seem to hit the fever better that way. Keep her in gatoraid and toast/banannas. You just have to wait it out.

I'd say keep doing what you're doing. My baby girl (3.5 yrs) is running 103.7! We hit the doc today though. Just a virus. Good luck!

When she does want to eat you should stick to the BRAT diet till she's back to herself again. It's a terrible name but it's an acronym for Bananas, Rice (plain), Applesauce (sugar free), and Toast (dry). It's what pediatricians recommend for icky tummies. And all the stuff your doing already. Having sick kids stinks! Hope she feels better soon. Hang in there Mama.
