My son has had a fever off and on again for the past two nights during the day he seems fine no fever but congested but at night the fever comes back. We gave him medicine at night before he goes to bed but not during the day because we want him to get all the mucus out of him. Today however the mucus is green does this mean that he has an infection? Previously the mucus was a clearish color and thin but today it is very green and thick. I thought that maybe it was just a common cold but now im starting to get worried because he has never had thick green mucus before when I googled it, i read that it might be a sinus infection and that he would require antibiotics for that, should I take him to the doctor it's been 2 days. Does anyone have any advice that can help please?

What can I do next?

I would probably take him in by Friday if it hasn't improved at all by then. I just had a cold that I thought was just viral but it lingered so long (way beyond the 4-7 day time span) that I figured it was a sinus infection and got the antibiotic. No sense in waiting through the weekend with a closed peds office. Good luck and best wishes!

I would sayy either a sinus infection or probably its viral (basically, a virus). Fevers are always worse in kids at night for some reason. I would get him to a doctor just to be sure.

In the meantime, keep him cool at night. If he is really congested, run a hot shower and let the steam loosen things up...you can also try a nasal spray to clear him up.

Yes, Green for sure I would take him in. Green, brown, yellow usually means sinus infection which can also turn into a URI.

Hope he gets better soon,

If it's green, I would take him in. Clear, I wouldn't, but green I would.
