You do need to watch just how much of any juice you give a wee one. Orange juice is very acidic, so you don't want to give him TOO much. Honestly, I would dilute it anyway, just to ease up on his lil tummy. Hope he feels better real soon!
Is it bad to give my 2yr old child alot of orange juice when he is sick?

i would think a glass would be ok, for the vitamins as long as it is juice and not concentrate . but my dr always says water is best when they are ill with a little cordial if they won't take water.
How much is alot? I agree with the others - dilute with equal parts water, and that other juice and water is fine.
My 2 year old recently had a sore throat for a few days. He went through almost a gallon of OJ each day his was sick, with no ill effects. We make it from the frozen stuff. We mix the frozen OJ with 4 cans of water instead of the recommended 3. Its a little diluted, but not as much as the half & half others are recommending. My son won't drink it diluted half way, it tastes gross (in our opinion). He was still eating the whole time he was sick, but not as much as he normally does. We had a few looser diapers than normal due to the increase in juice, but that is it. He did not want to drink water or milk or other juices. The MOST important thing when your child is sick is to keep them hydrated. I think you should give them anything they are willing to drink. If it starts to hurt his belly he should be able to tell you no more, then you can switch to water or something else.
If the acidity doesn't bother the child I guess it's ok from the standpoint that excess vitamin C is just eliminated from your body in urine. What's important is fluids--water is OK too.
No, on the contrary, orange juice is full of vitamin c and antioxidants that will help him fend off his cold. Be aware that organic fruits and veggies are always best for you and your child. www.pcrm.org
I don't think so, unless he has a sore throat, as the acidity may irritate it further. Personally, I drink tons of juice when I am sick and find that it really makes me feel better.
You may have a bit of a battle on your hands when he is well again because he may want more of it than usual, but in my mind, rules get suspended during illnesses.
Hope your little one is better soon!

Hi, A.:
Just dilute the OJ 1/2 and 1/2 water.
He should be fine with it. Other juices are good too.
Good luck. D.
I would be careful with that. If your child has a lot of post nasal drip and is congested it could make him sick to his stomach. Orange juice can be acidic. I would give him a lot of water or may be some gatorade if he is not feeling well. Keep your child hydrated.
dilute it with water, better apple or white grape juice much easier on stomach.
dEPENDS WHAT KIND OF ILLNESS. I WOULD SAY NO IF IT'S A STOMACH ACHE DUE TO THE ACID.
If your intention is to get him more vitamin C, they make "EmergenC" for kids, and it would be easier on his tummy. :)
