Shortness of Breath...

Is this a little bit normal during pregnancy? Note, I'm about 9 weeks...

It's not anything severe, and no other symptoms accompanying it, I just feel kind of winded at times, like, I'll be trying to tell someone a story or something, and keep having to kind of catch my breath... like I just walked up a couple flights of steps or something...

I know I had this with my son, but I think I was a lot farther along, like when my belly was way up into my ribcage... bear in mind, I'm fatter now than when I got pregnant with my son... so that may be contributing?

What can I do next?

Its totally normal. Pregnant women just need more oxygen so you seem short of breath but its not dangerous and is normal

When baby gets bigger, baby will push up onto your diaphragm (the muscle that pushes air out of your lungs), so shortness of breath is common.

Being so early in the pregnancy, watch yourself. It could just be your body getting used to being pregnant again; you're pumping blood and oxygen for TWO, and especially when it gets hot, taking it easy and staying hydrated are super important.

Mention it to your doctor at your next visit; if it's mild, you're fine... if it's serious and accompanied with lightheadedness or dizziness, go to the ER... I started having BAD BAD BAD panic attacks for no reason at all when I was pregnant with my third, and it always started with a shortness of breath... I passed out at the store one day (wonderful, huh?!).. just take care of yourself and don't push it! Feel better :)

You are probably fine, but, this early, it shouldn't happen. Call your doctor.
I did not know it at the time, but mine was caused by a heart problem.

I got that much later. I think it has to do with your uterus pushing into your diaphragm. I don't know if it's possible for your uterus to be that high already--I would think it was unlikely.

Its much too early in the pregnancy for this to be "normal". Normal is a relative thing so once a doctor checks you out it may be normal for you... But it is not the norm for pregnant women to experience this so early.

Get checked out there are dozens of reasons from the banal (allergies) to the severe (blood clots). Neither you nor any of the helpful mommies on here can diagnose that. Let the doctor decide. Bon Chance!

Time to go see your doctor! (Dontcha just hate that?)

Pneumonia and RSV have been SWEEPING the nation this spring. Mostly really mild cases, but it's been so ridiculous the nurses I know have a running gallows humor joke right now offering someone food and saying "RSV chocolate?" or "Pneumonia Soda?" It's absolutely mind boggling how much it's going around (esp 'walking pneumonia', no other symptoms but shortness of breath)... so it's worth getting checked early.

It can also be an early sign of toxemia, gestational diabetes, and as such; better caught early than in a few weeks.

PROBABLY nothing, but worth the checkup to make sure.
