I have four large dogs and am so sick of year round shedding. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to deal with constant shedding?

I have a part sheltie and a long haired cat, so i know about shedding! :) other than having the dog shaved, you have to brush every day, or 2 - 3 times a day to keep it under control - it's a lot of work, and with 3 kids and a husband, sometimes a headache, but well worth it to me............

Wow! I only have ONE dog, and I'M sick of the shedding. I can't imagine it times four! I don't know what to tell ya. You do have four dogs. I am constantly dusting, sweeping, and vacuuming -- wish I could afford to pay someone to do it for me. I try to brush my dog everyday, outside, never in the house, even if it's freezing cold out there. We have lint rollers galore. I feel your pain, even if it's just a fraction of it! Good luck!

My mom also loves the Furminator. It is expensive but my mom swears it's worth every penny. She's owned dogs for at least 33 years so she has a lot of experience with shedding problems.

They make dog grooming attachments for certain vacuums. We got ours at Lowes and it really works great. It is a brush on a long hose so you get the benefits of brushing without having to worry about all that hair flying around. We have a basset hound and he sheds more than any dog I've ever seen and this REALLY helps. He loves it too and it has really cut down on the amount of hair on the floor and furniture!!

The only thing I have had success with is bathing them once per week. It is esp important to put CONDITIONER in their coat and brush it while they are wet and vigorously rub their coat as you rinse them. I started doing this when my husband was diagnosed with dog allergies to help my husband and was surprised that it actually cut down on hair tumbleweeds in my house.

Hope that helps!

brush them everyday with a shedding blade and take them into petco and have them use their anti-shedding treatment.
I have a long haired dog and this helps us.

The Furminator products work well. I actually use a knock off version of the brush. But it really pulls the loose hair out. I also use Furminator's deshedding solution after shampooing the dogs. It helps the loos hair come out during bathing and leaves the coat so soft!
If you can afford it, take the dogs to a groomer for a de-shedding treatment.
Otherwise the Furminator type brushing on a regular basis is the best option.
